10. Delhi Technological University, Delhi
Delhi Technological University secured the 10th position in the list of top 10 best engineering colleges in India.
Delhi Technological University (DTU) was established in 1941 as Delhi Polytechnic, and was given the University affiliation in 2009 and was renamed as Delhi Technological University.
It is one of the oldest engineering colleges in India and Delhi’s first engineering college to come into existence.

9. IIT Roorkee
Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee is not only among the top engineering colleges in India but is among the top engineering colleges in the world. It was established in the year 1847 as Thomason College, and had gained the status of IIT in the year 2001.
Courses are offered in 10 disciplines in Engineering and Architecture; 55 Postgraduate Degree courses and Doctoral programmes in various departments and Research Centers.

8. IIT Guwahati

BITS Pilani is placed at the 7th position in the list of top 10 best engineering colleges in India. Birla Institute of Technology & Science (BITS) was established in the year 1964 by it’s founder late Mr. G.D. Birla.
It offers wide courses specialisation in engineering as well as other streams as well.
The institute has a flagship of departments like the Work Integrated Learning Programmes (WILP) and Institutional Knowledge and Analysis (IKA) Cell. Research, a substantial part of importance at BITS, is aided by majorly the government bodies.

5. IIT Delhi
IIT Delhi is ranked 5nd in the list of top 10 best engineering colleges in India, is located in Hauz Khas, South Delhi with a sprawling campus of 325 acres.
The Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi (IIT Delhi) began as ‘The College of Engineering & Technology’ in 1960 and was later renamed as Indian Institute of Technology Delhi in 1963.

4. IIT Madras
The 4th position on this list is occupied by IIT Madras, a prestigious engineering college established in the year 1959, located in the city of Chennai previously known as Madras is the state capital of Tamilnadu.

Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur (IIT KGP) was the first of the IITs to be established in the year 1951, is a prestigious engineering college in India. IIT Kharagpur is located 120 kilometres west of Kolkata in Hijli, Kharagpur, West Bengal. The institute was formerly known as Eastern Higher Technical Institute and was later renamed as IIT Kharagpur in 1951.
IIT Kharagpur receives comparatively more funding than any other engineering colleges in India may it for development or research purpose.
In 2015, IIT Kharagpur had about 600 faculty members, 1,933 employees and approximately 10,000 students living on the campus. IIT Kharagpur offers both the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in various fields of engineering.
