“Rejoicing in ordinary things is not sentimental or trite. It actually takes guts. Each time we drop our complaints and allow everyday good fortune to inspire us, we enter the warrior’s world.”

― Pema Chödrön

Tomorrow brings us to the halfway point of the FIRE: 30 Day Journal Project.

This is my third year doing this challenge. One of my favorite things in putting it all together is drawing connections between the so-called ordinary things of life, our creative journey, and the authors and artists and teachers in this world who leave their mark upon us.

Then there is the unique flavor that you add to the mix, with your participation, sharing, working on your own and finding your way in your own journal.

I love the thought of so many other souls out there in the world, bending over their paper, pen in hand. Responding to the prompts, making your own connections.

Not going at our creative work absolutely alone, getting to share the creative journey, is what inspired this project from the beginning.

Doing any type of creative work is a hero’s journey, a warrior’s path, and I’d always wished there were more guides and guidebooks, processes and methods for navigating the journey, when I was starting out.

Before or after you write today, I invite you to visit me during the first 30 Day Journal Project, around the same midway point, exploring Riotous Roots.

I share a short video celebrating the ordinary joy of deep snow, mountain wilderness, and what was on my mind this time two years ago, when this project began.

If you like getting to know the creative process behind a product, I think you’ll find it may put a little kindling on your creative fire today.

Today’s Journal Prompts:

I love these ordinary things…

I am so fortunate because…

I celebrate the ordinary by…

I’d like to complain less about…

I’d like to be more inspired by…

For your creative journey…

Dreaming on Paper: The Creative Sketchbook shows you how to create magnificent mixed-media art journals as a contemplative practice. It’s the foundational course required for more in-depth study and the facilitator training.

No experience in art or writing is necessary to attend any of my workshops. Absolute beginners are welcome! I’d be honored to be your creative journey guide.

Our theme for this series is: FIRE.

Creative journaling is my number one tool as an artist and creative entrepreneur. I designed this project to help you discover the magic that happens when you journal for 30 days.

30 days of prompts and ideas to inspire, motivate, and en-Courage you, with creative community to support you. That’s my intention.

Your Writing Made Easier

Make your writing habit even easier.

During the first 30 Day Journal Project, I found that having the prompts printed out in advance helped me get right into my writing for the day.

This is my lazy writing & journaling method. It works!
