Over the last few years I’ve really come to appreciate and look after my skin, especially my face.
Long gone are the days of lying in the sun and going to bed without taking off my makeup, I now take good care of my skin. I did have a set back though…
My skin copped a beating in Canada, the -20ºC temperatures left my skin extremely dry and sore from windburn. It took a good two weeks, and tons of moisturiser, to get it back to normal.
While experiencing the wind burn I started thinking about how I could better my skin.
Two years ago I started having regular facials at Jocelyn Petroni and they have been game changers. Not only are they good for my skin but the facials are also good for the soul – it’s an hour or so of me-time, time to think, meditate and sometimes even nap. I needed to up the ante on my at-home skin routine.
I spent hours and hours researching creams, oils, masks and tools and finally decided on 8 new beauty products I wanted to try out.
For the next six weeks I’m going to use these products religiously and see what happens. Would you like to join my in the Six Week Beauty Challenge?
Now, I’ve spent a bit of money overhauling my regime, but you certainly don’t have to. Your Six Week Beauty Challenge just has to be to do something to your skin that you haven’t done regularly. Maybe it’s taking off makeup before bed? Adding a serum before your moisturiser? Wearing a mask once a week? Going to get a facial? You can do whatever if you like, it just has to be a little different to what you’re doing.
For those who are looking for a new product or two to add to your regime, I’m sharing the new products I’m trying below.
So, what do you say? Want to join in the Six Week Beauty Challenge?
Dr. Jart+Liftra™ 3-Step Contour Set
The Dr. Jart+Liftra™ 3-Step Contour Set when used regularly is supposed to lift and sculpt the face. The Contour Cream fills and firms the appearance of the skin with polymer and collagen fibre. The Contour Shaper is made from 10 geranium balls that you massage over your face and neck, stimulating facial muscles and improving elasticity. The Contour Fixer is a setting mist that forms a thin film over the skin to moisturise and prolong the lifting and contouring effects.
You can buy it from Sephora USA and Amazon.
CLINIQUE Pore Refining Solutions Charcoal Mask
This charcoal mask absorbs impurities, draws out deep pores and soaks up excess oil. The mask is to be applied twice a week, for ten minutes at a time, and leaves the skin feeling fresh and smooth and pores noticeably refined.
I have applied this twice since buying it and last week, when I was at Jocelyn Petroni for my facial, I was told that my pores were smaller. I wonder what they’ll be like in six week’s time.

La Roche-Posay Toleriane Ultra Light
As I mentioned earlier, my skin copped a beating in Canada and was sensitive. So sensitive in fact, that the only moisturiser I could use that didn’t sting was La Roche-Posay’s Toleriane Ultra Light moisturiser.
It’s an extra light moisturiser with Glycerin for hydration, NeurosensineTM to soothe and best of all, it’s preservative, paraben, fragrance, alcohol, colorant and lanolin-free!
You can buy from Beauty Expert (USA) or Priceline Australia.
Foreo IRIS™ Illuminating Eye Massager
I know what this looks like, but I promise it isn’t that! This, my friends, is the Foreo IRIS™ Illuminating Eye Massager.
The IRIS™ Illuminating Eye Massager is meant to helps reduce those pesky puffy eye bags, dark circles, crow’s feet, wrinkles and lines. You use morning and night, after applying your eye cream. An automatic timer means you won’t overuse your device.
You can buy this device from Sephora (USA), Sephora (AUS) or David Jones.
SKII Facial Treatment Mask
I’ve heard nothing but rave reviews of the SKII Facial Treatment Mask and decided to give them a go. These intensive moisture boosting masks contains Pitera, which nourishes your skin, leaving it hydrated, radiant and also helps improve skin texture.
I put one of these on last week and was so impressed – my skin really did look radiant when I removed the mask. I initially gulped at the price but if I keep seeing these results then I will happily fork over my cash.
Dr Jart+ Water Fuse Water-Max Sleeping Mask
I’m excited about this mask. Hydration is most important in my skin care regime and this claims to lock in vital moisture and nutrients while you’re sleeping. Olive leaf and cranberry are meant to boost elasticity and a blend of the nine essential oils promotes a deep sleep.
This mask is to be put on after your nightly serum and moisturiser and can be washed off in the morning.
Ole Henriksen Truth Serum®
Ole Henriksen’s Truth Serum was another product getting rave reviews. It’s a powerful anti-ageing serum formulated with vitamin C and collagen, for brightening and hydration. It’s also enriched with orange and green tea extracts, it revives the skin and leaves it with a more youthful looking flow.
I’ll be applying this before my moisturiser every morning and night.
