John Homer Reeves

Mr. John Homer Reeves, age 75, of 7831 Spinnaker Bay Drive in Sherrills Ford, died on Monday, May 2, 2016.

Mr. Reeves was born December 12, 1940 in Lancaster, Pa. to Eviel Mills Reeves Steinwagner of Tuscaloosa, Ala. and the late Paul Reeves. Mr. Reeves was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in the Korean War era. He was the owner of Transstate LLC, a water and sewer construction company that he founded in 1973 and is still successful today.

An avid hunter and outdoorsman, his life was full of adventure and travel. From hunting and fishing all over the country and Canada, he was most at peace living on Lake Norman where he lived for many years.

Survivors include two sons, Todd Reeves and wife Alesia of Iron Station, Troy Reeves and wife Leslie of Denver; two brothers, Allen Reeves of Gulf Shores, Ala. and Gary Reeves of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; six grandchildren, and his loving companion of many years, Denyse Frenette of Gatineau, Canada and her dog Bambi.

A private service will be held at a later date.

Rev. Earsel Lee Robinson

Rev. Earsel Lee Robinson, age 92, of 2054 Valley View Lane in Lincolnton, entered his heavenly home on Monday, May 2, 2016.

His funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 5, 2016, at Anthony Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Dennis Bean and Rev. Ken Faulkenberry officiating. His body will lie in state for 30 minutes prior to the service at the church.  A graveside service will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday at Burke Memorial Park in Morganton. The family will receive friends this evening, May 4, 2016 from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Warlick Funeral Home.

Rev. Robinson was born March 2, 1924 in Burke County to the late Jeff L. and Flossie Coffey Robinson. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Susan Mull Robinson; siblings, McCoy “Doodie” Robinson, Paul P. Robinson, R.H. Robinson, Bobby Robinson and Margie Lowman; one grandson, Scott Carrigan; one great grandson, Riley “Spanky” Maphis.

Rev. Robinson was an ordained Baptist minister, who for the last 13 years of his ministry, along with his wife Susan, served as foster parents to 400 foster children at the Burke County United Christian Shelter Home.

Survivors include two sons, Paul D. Robinson, Sr. and wife Katherine of Augusta, Ga., Rondell L. Robinson and wife Sylvia of Hickory; one daughter, Denise Hamrick and husband Ronnie of Lincolnton; two brothers, Bueford Robinson of Morganton; Jack Robinson of Tallahassee, FL; two sisters, Rheba R. Pittman of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, Lydia R. Hoyle of Valdese; seven grandchildren, Misty Maphis, Paul D. Robinson, Jr., Amy Spizzo, Kelly Bivins, Holly Poston, Emily Sain, Michael Carrigan; 20 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-granchild.

Steve Alvin Warlick, age 72, of Carolina Care in Cherryville, died on Sunday, May 1, 2016.

His funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. today, May 4, 2016, in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Nathan Grooms officiating. Burial will follow in the Crouse Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mr. Warlick was born July 7, 1943, in Rutherford County, to the late Joe and Vergie Spencer Warlick. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Harley Warlick. Steve worked as a machinist in textiles.

He is survived by two sisters, Evelyn Peeler, and husband Earl, of Lincolnton and Gladys Biddix of Cherryville; and two brothers, Willard Warlick of Lincolnton and Hugh Warlick of Golden Valley.

Ruby Lee Tillman Saine

Ruby Lee Tillman Saine, 87, of 620 Stroupe Road, Lawndale passed away May 1, 2016 at Hospice at Wendover.

Born June 9, 1928 in Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Richard Alvin Tillman and Bryte Wehunt Tillman. She was retired from Shadowline and also worked for Hudson Hosiery and Starview. Mrs. Saine was a member of Bess Chapel United Methodist Church and a graduate of Belwood High School.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, David Lee Saine; a son, Gerald David Saine; brothers, Richard Tillman Jr., Pryde Tillman and Blaine Tillman; sister, Lorene Bess and numerous half-brothers and half-sisters.

Survivors include son, Wayne Saine and wife Wanda of North Brook; daughter, Wanda Richard and husband Roger of Ellenboro; daughter, Cheryl Pullen and husband JR of North Brook; grandchildren, Brock Billy Richardson and wife Wendy, Toby Brandon Saine and wife Shelia, Kelli Lauren Saine and Wesley Saine Richard; great grandchildren, Savannah Richardson, Farrah Richardson, Hunter Saine and Kiley Saine.

Visitation was from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday at Stamey–Tysinger Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. today, May 4, 2016 at Bess Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. Bill Taylor and Rev. Roy T. Byers officiating. The body will lie in state thirty minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Bess Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Douglas William McCraw, Sr., age 73, of 2375 Gaston Webbs Chapel Road in Lincolnton, died on Sunday, May 1, 2016.

Mr. McCraw was born November 27, 1942, in Cleveland County, to the late Lloyd and Dorothy Green McCraw. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a son, Douglas W. McCraw, Jr.; and two brothers, Donald McCraw and Dean McCraw. He worked as a mechanic.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce Carpenter McCraw of the home; two sons, Reggie McCraw (Lynda) of Mt. Holly, and David McCraw (Shelly) of Lincolnton; one daughter, Tammy Benfield of Lincolnton; five grandchildren, Damon McCraw and friend Emily London, Shaina McCraw Thomas (Jonathan), Lindsey Williams (Johnny), Chase Benfield, and Kerri Benfield; four great-grandchildren, Nicholas Madison, Isaac McCraw, Hunter McCraw, Tylan McCraw; daughter-in-law, Susan McCraw of Lincolnton; and granddaughter-in-law, Jamie McCraw.

Jerry Joe Felmet

VALE — Jerry Joe Felmet, 66, of Bentgrass Lane, Vale, passed away Monday, May 2, 2016 at Peak Resources in Cherryville.

Jerry was born in Cleveland County on March 11, 1950 to the late Carl William Felmet and Bertha Wright Felmet.  He was retired from Century Case Goods, Hickory and was a member of Laurel Hill United Methodist Church where he served as an usher for many years.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by two brothers, WC Felmet and Dale Felmet and two sisters, Sue Randall and Margaret May.

He is survived by two sisters, Ruth Willis of Vale and Maggie Willis of Lawndale, numerous loving nieces and nephews, and his dog, Toby.

The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. Thursday in the sanctuary at Laurel Hill United Methodist Church. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Laurel Hill United Methodist Church with Rev. Cathy Turman officiating. The burial will follow the service in the Laurel Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery.

LAKELAND, FL — Audrey Nicholas Flessa, age 83, of 762 Park Hill Avenue in Lakeland, Fla., died on Monday, May 2, 2016.

Her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 6, 2016, in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mrs. Flessa was born September 8, 1932, in Queens, N.Y., to the late Jack V. and Florence Tildsley Nicholas. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Henry G. Flessa and a brother, Daniel Nicholas.

She is survived by two daughters, Cindy Skop, and husband Barry Ennis, of Lakeland, Fla., and Denise Garrison, and husband Michael, of Wilmington; and two grandchildren, Gavin Ennis and Jennifer West.

She is survived by two daughters, Jewell Lane, and husband Michael, and Ann Caldwell, and husband Kermit, all of Lincolnton; one brother, Christopher Williams of Denver; three sisters, Gladys McElveen, Christine Burgess, and Karen Sain, all of Maiden; six grandchildren, including special granddaughter and caregiver, Annette Beal; nine great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
