Thomas Wilson Craig
Thomas Wilson Craig, age 65, resident of Lincolnton, passed away October 23, 2015 at Lincoln Rehab Center. He was born in Cleveland County to the late Thomas and Louise Faulkenbury Craig. He was a former truck driver. Wilson was a wonderful man with a good heart and will be missed by many. He proudly served in the United States Army.
Survivors include brother, Larry Craig and wife Vicki of Lincolnton; sister, Kay Craig Burgin of Lincolnton and nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, October 29, 2015 at Calvary Baptist Church in Lincolnton at 2 p.m. with Dr. Scott Shoffner officiating. Visitation will immediately follow the service at Calvary Baptist Church.

Barbara Jean Cornell Washburn
Mrs. Barbara Jean Cornell Washburn, age 53, passed away on Saturday, October 24, 2015 at her home.
Born September 23, 1962 in Bucks County, Pa., Barbara was a daughter of the late Robert and Patricia Phipps Cornell. Barbara had a love for motorcycle riding, working with stain glass and was a lover of animals. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her father in law, Emerson “Skip” Washburn, and her mother in law, Diane Tougaw.
She is survived by her husband of 32 years, Garry Washburn; two sisters and brothers in law, Nancy and Tom Schlacter of Conover and Eileen and Art Ashline of Granite Falls; a brother, Mark Cornell of Browns Mills, NJ; two brothers in law, Mark and Debbie Washburn and Sean and Rose Wigley of Hudson Falls, NY; two sisters in law, Sandy and Todd Ash of Glens Falls, NY and Sue and Herbie Strong of Hudson Falls, NY; her step mother in law, Gladys Washburn of Glens Falls, NY; and her dog, Butterbean; she is also survived by numerous other relatives.
The family will receive friends at Valdese Family Funeral Care on Friday, October 30, 2015 from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. The family requests that all visitors dress casual.

Mary Kathryn Moore Alexander, age 92, of Cherryville, died on Sunday, October 25, 2015.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, October 29, 2015, at Forest Lawn West Cemetery in Charlotte, with Rev. Dr. Robert Wise officiating.
Mrs. Alexander was born November 11, 1922, in Lincoln County, to the late Alverdo and Effie Dellinger Moore. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Irwin O. Alexander, and a sister, Martha Abernethy.
She is survived by a son, David W. Alexander of Cherryville; and a number of nieces and nephews.

VALE — Mr. Oliver Gene Willis, 70, passed away on Monday, October 26, 2015 at his residence.
Gene was born in Lincoln County, on September 23, 1945 a son of the late Rufus Paul Willis and Vivian Hoyle Willis of Vale. He was retired from Carolina Freight Carriers Corporation as a rate clerk after 32 years of service. Gene was a member of Hull’s Grove Baptist Church.
In addition to his mother, survivors include his wife of 42 years, Kathy Miller Willis of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Regina D. Sanders and Robert of Bessemer City; two grandchildren, Kaylee Dawn Willis and James Paul Sanders; a sister, Paulette Huss of Crouse and a number of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be today, October 28, 2015 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Hull’s Grove Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 29, 2015 at 4 p.m. at Hull’s Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Travis Elmore and Mr. Bobby Farmer officiating. Burial will be at Hull’s Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

Born March 6, 1951 in Lancaster County, Pa. to the late Frank and Jane Smith Robinson. Sue was a member of Gilkey Church of God in Rutherfordton. She enjoyed watching baseball, football, racing, knitting, bingo and hanging out with her friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David Smack Sr.; son, Craig Smack and sister, Linda Phillips
