Mark Anthony Richards

VALE — Mark Anthony Richards, age 54, of 6477 Fairview Church Road in Vale, died on Monday, July 20, 2015.

His funeral service will be held at 3:30 p.m. today, July 22, 2015, in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mr. Richards was born October 11, 1960, in Mecklenburg County, to the late Fred L. “Doc” Richards and Bobbie Abernathy Richards. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Michael S. Richards and a sister, Cynthia R. “Cindy” Richards. He worked as a truck driver and also a Domino’s delivery driver.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Teresa Luckadoo Richards of the home; a son, Ryan Richards of the home; a daughter, Jessica D. Richards of Lincolnton; his faithful pet, Tink; a sister, Sandra E. Keller and husband Ronald of Lincolnton; Uncle Zane Richards of Gastonia; mother-in-law Shirley Luckadoo and father-in-law Steve of Crouse; sisters-in-law, Ramey Peeler and husband Earl of Lincolnton, sister-in-law, Becky Luckadoo of Vale, sister-in-law, Joyce Richards of Lincolnton, and numerous nephews and nieces.

George ‘Mitch’ Roberson

George “Mitch” Roberson, 56, of Lincolnton passed away Sunday, July 19, 2015 at CMC-Lincoln.

He was born December 12, 1958 in Cleveland County to the late George “Bo” Clinton Roberson and Linda Heavner Huss.

He was preceded his brother, Timothy Alan Roberson.

Those left to cherish Mitch’s memory are: daughters, Christy Roberson of Cherryville and Nicole Roberson of Forest City; sisters, Renada Tucker and husband Kenneth of Denver, Mardecia Chatham and husband Mike of Rutherfordton, Sherree Stroud and husband Kelly of Lincolnton; grandchildren, Destiny Roberson, Dalton Davis, Dakota Roberson, Daysi Roberson.

A service to celebrate Mitch’s life will be held today, July 22, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Friendly Chapel Baptist Church in Maiden. Rev. Jeff Harris will officiate. Burial will follow at Gloryland Baptist Church in Lincolnton. The family will receive friends today from 10 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at Friendly Chapel Baptist Church in Maiden. Those serving as pallbearers, Dillon Tucker, Mitchell Gates, Dutch Leonard, Chuck Sneed, Gabe Gavin, Dalton Davis and honorary pallbearer, Devin Leonard.

Ronnie Allen Goble, 73, of Vale, passed away July 19, 2015 at Caromont Regional Medical Center.

He was born February 16, 1942 in Gaston County, son of the late Shuford and Dessie Goble.

Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife, Freida Goble; sons, Terry Goble and Ken Fuquay; daughters, Stacy Killette and husband Andrew and Angela Picklesimer; brother, Clifford Goble; sister, Sue Cook; grandchildren, Erin, Emily, Kayla, Jarrett, Logan, Josh, Kennedy and Jason, Tosha.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Johnny and Robert Goble.

A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. today, July 22, 2015 at Greene Funeral Service – South Chapel – 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia, officiated by the Revs. Richard Kings and Randall Phillips. The family will receive friends from noon until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Entombment will be in Gaston Memorial Park.

Elaine Reynolds Lynch

SHELBY — Elaine Reynolds Lynch, 88, of Shelby died Monday, July 20, 2015, at White Oak Manor of Shelby.

A native of Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late John Stamey and Anna Lawing Reynolds. She was a homemaker.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Fred Lynch; and sister, Evelyn Whitesides.

She is survived by her son, Michael Lynch and wife Barbara of Shelby; and step-grandsons, Paul Edward Durst and wife Catherine of Alston, Mass. and Zachary Durst of Asheville.

The family will receive friends Thursday, July 23, 2015 from 10 a.m. until 11a.m., at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home. Services and burial will be private to the family at Cleveland Memorial Park.

Mary Alice Abee Heavner

Mary Alice Abee Heavner, age 83, of 983 Huntington Hills Drive in Lincolnton, died on Sunday, July 19, 2015.

Her funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. today, July 22, 2015, in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Nathan Grooms officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mrs. Heavner was born October 16, 1931, in Catawba County, to the late Frank and Bessie Townsend Abee. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, John Grady Heavner, Jr. She worked as a seamstress.

She is survived by a son, Tracy Heavner and wife Lisa of Mobile, Ala.; a daughter, Robin H. Franklin and husband Shad of Lincolnton; a sister, Betty Brooks of Cherryville; five grandchildren, Hollyn Franklin and Rylan Franklin, both of Lincolnton, Landon Heavner, Carter Heavner, and Collin Heavner, all of Mobile, Ala.

Lelia Seagle Houser

Lelia Seagle Houser, age 88, of Gastonia passed away Sunday, July 19, 2015 at Caromont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia.

She was born October 22, 1926 in Lincoln County, daughter of the late Lois Reeves Seagle and Oney Caldwell Seagle.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edison Lee Houser, Sr.; brother, Arnold Seagle and sister, Alma Reitzel.

Leila was a member of Temple Baptist Church in Gastonia and a proud member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW.

The family would like to give special thanks to friends, fellow church members, and church family.

Mrs. Houser is survived by her children and spouses, Sue Jane Mason and husband Jerry of Clemmons, and Eddie Houser and wife Joyce of Gastonia; brother, Robert Seagle of Newton; numerous nieces and nephews and granddogs, Maggie and Daisy.

A funeral service, officiated by Pastor Scott Whitener, will be held at 2 p.m. today, July 22, 2015 at Temple Baptist Church, Gastonia. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Gaston Memorial Park.

Carol Ann Mozley Worboys

Carol Ann Mozley Worboys passed away peacefully on July 15, 2015 at the Levine & Dickson Hospice House in Huntersville.

She was born in Miami, Fla. on March 16, 1935 to Louis Anderson and Mary Kathleen Mozley and grew up during the war years of World War II. The period would shape many fond memories of music, movies, books and decorating for the rest of her life. Carol attended Florida State University and returned to Miami where she would meet and marry her husband of sixty years, James William Worboys in 1955.

Carol and Jim have three married sons, Jeff and Holly of Charlotte, Lance and Tina of Meriden, Conn. and Ash and MaryDale of Asheboro. Her seven grandchildren, Jessica, Jordon, Mary, Hampton, Renee, Rachel and Riley and one great grandchild, Jameson were the pride and joy of her life.

Family and friends just celebrated Carol and Jim’s 60th wedding anniversary in June, 2015. Carol was very loving and proud of her family, whom she was always eager to talk about to everyone along with sharing pictures of the grandchildren and her great grandchild. Carol was homemaker and also a longtime school and community volunteer during the boy’s youth. Carol later went to work at the US Bureau of the Census, where she met her best friend of the last 30 years, Diane Laws. Carol also enjoyed working at the Westport Country Club and the local CVS pharmacy where she made numerous close friends in the Denver area. Her passion beside family, close friends and pets was antiques. Carol loved to collect antiques from her favorite vacations spots of Cashiers and London, England. Carol’s booth at Vintiques, of Denver, provided her great joy during the last several years and she was very fond of the friendships she formed there.

Carol was cremated at her request and asked for her ashes to spread over several of her favorite places to visit. Family observances of Carol’s joyous life will take place on several occasions to celebrate her love of travel.

Gladys Marie Spencer, 78, of Hickory died July 19, 2015.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held July 23, 2015 at 3 p.m. at Winkler’s Grove Baptist Church in Hickory. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends July 23, 2015 from 2:30 p.m. until 3 p.m. at Winkler’s Grove Baptist Church.

Norma “Jean” Fuller, 77, of Concord died July 20, 2015.

A funeral service will be held July 27, 2015 at 1 p.m. at Mt. View Baptist Church in Maiden. Burial will be at Rome Proctorville Cemetery in Proctorville, Ohio. The family will receive friends prior to the service Monday from 12:30 p.m. until 1 p.m. at the church.

Visitation followed after the service in Carpenter’s Grove Baptist Church Fellowship Building. A graveside service will be held at 9 a.m. today at Carpenter’s Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
