Mary Grace Reynolds Bell

Mary Grace Reynolds Bell, age 83, of Denver, died on Thursday, October 23, 2014.

Her funeral service will be held at noon on Monday, October 27, 2014, in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles Ingle officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. on Monday prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mrs. Bell was born January 18, 1931, in Cleveland County, to the late Augustus and Mary Lee Hullender Reynolds. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, John Morgan Bell, a son John T. Bell Sr.; and three brothers, Richard Reynolds, Archie Reynolds, and Ned Reynolds.

She is survived by two daughters, Patty Bell of Denver and Cindy Yanky and husband Ken of Md.; two brothers, Fred Reynolds of Denver and Bill Reynolds of Fla.; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Joyce Ann Propst Branch, 86, of Morganton died Thursday, October 23, 2014.

Born in Burke County on January 17, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Lester Huston Propst and Alyce Madeline Baldyga Propst. Joyce was a member of First Baptist Church in Glen Alpine. She was a graduate of Glen Alpine High School and worked for over 40 years as an Avon sales representative.

A loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Joyce is survived by her husband, Russell Branch of the home; children, Beverly Branch Hyatt and her husband, Jack, and Steve M. Branch and his wife, Barbara, all of Morganton; grandchildren, Stacy Costner and her husband, Billy, Tonia Laws and her husband, Jonathan, Caroline Nelson and her husband, Jimmy, Jackie Hyatt, and Josh Branch and his wife, Jessica; and great-grandchildren, Josie, JW, Daisey, TJ, Anna, Savannah, Scarlett, and Sophie.

The graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, October 25, 2014 at Snow Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery with Mr. Floyd Thomas officiating. The family will receive friends in the cemetery following the service.

Deitra Meacham Chapman

Deitra Meacham Chapman, age 67, of 1675 Lenora Circle in Lincolnton, died on Tuesday, October 21, 2014.

Her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 25, 2014, in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Devine officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. this evening at Warlick Funeral Home.

Mrs. Chapman was born on December 29, 1946, in Cleveland County, to Beatrice Meacham and the late Paul Franklin Meacham. In addition to her father, she was also preceded in death by her husband, John Carlos Chapman. She was retired from Ethan Allen.

She is survived by her mother, Beatrice Meacham of Shelby; two sons, Tony Chapman and wife Renee of Lincolnton and Kevin Chapman and wife Pamela of Taylorsville; daughter, Christy Harkey and husband Ben of Lincolnton; brother, Paul Meacham Jr. of Clearwater, Fla.; sister, Paulette Bradley of Shelby; four grandchildren, T.J. Chapman and wife Allison, Mallory Sweet, Ethan Johnson, and Abi Harkey; and a great-grandson, Henry Chapman.

Ronald Braxton ‘Ronnie’ Dalton

Ronald Braxton “Ronnie” Dalton, age 72, of 452 Calvary Church Road, Lincolnton died Wednesday, October 22, 2014.

His funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday, October 26, 2014 in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kathy McAbee officiating. Burial will follow in Pisgah United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Saturday at Warlick Funeral Home.

Mr. Dalton was born on January 12, 1942 and was the son of the late A.B. Dalton Sr. and Nevie Ree Kurkis Dalton. He was also preceded in death by a brother, A.B. Dalton Jr. Prior to retiring from the maintenance department of Robco Enterprises, he retired from Coble Dairy after 25 years.

He is survived by his wife, Doris L. Dalton of the home; two daughters, Vickie Rikard and husband, Marty and Patty Dalton; grandchildren, Braxton Rikard, Bailey Rikard, Brayden Rikard, Andrew Dalton, Eilainia Dalton and Abigail Dalton; two sisters, Peggy Mincey and husband, Doug and Judy Wayne and husband, Larry.

Cora Alice Branham Hill

IRON STATION — Cora Alice Branham Hill, age 77, of 1501 Mt. Zion Church Road in Iron Station, died on Monday, October 20, 2014.

Her funeral service will be held at noon today at Clintwood Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Hill Cemetery in Clintwood, Va. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. prior to the service at the church.

Mrs. Hill was born July 12, 1937, in Clintwood, Va., to the late Ross and Nora Mullins Branham. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Franklin Delano Hill and a sister, Jacqueline Taylor. She worked as a hotel manager and was a devoted and loving grandmom.

She is survived by two daughters, Debora Ray and husband Mitchell of Fla., and Pam Francis and husband Michael of Iron Station; one brother, David Branham of Clintwood, Va.; two sisters, Betty Jo Artrip and Bildean Artrip, both of Clintwood, Va.; five grandchildren, Michael Francis Jr., Amanda Francis, Christopher Ray, Brianna Ray, and Cameron Ray; and numerous nieces and nephews.

IRON STATION — Polly Link Hoyle, age 99, of Cardinal Care in Lincolnton, died on Wednesday, October 22, 2014.

Her funeral service will be held 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 25, 2014, in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kathy McAbee officiating. Burial will follow in the Asbury United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:15 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Polly was born July 12, 1915, in Lincoln County, to the late William Monroe and Zettie Goodson Link. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, George William Hoyle.

She is survived by a son, George “Rick” Hoyle and wife Peggy of Iron Station; grandson, Jonathan Hoyle and wife Chrystal of Iron Station; two great-grandchildren, Brooklyn Hoyle and Jonathan-Ballard Hoyle, both of Iron Station; sister-in-law, Sally Link of Iron Station; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Bessie Pauline Miller Long, age 83, of 5593 King Wilkinson Road, Denver died Wednesday, October 22, 2014.

Her funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday, October 25, 2014 at Amity Baptist Church with Rev. Jeff Kincaid officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. Saturday prior to the funeral at Amity Baptist Church.

Mrs. Long was born on February 11, 1931 and was the daughter of the late Charles Cletus and Julia Ethel Hoke Miller. She was a retired inspector from Timken.

Mrs. Long is survived by three sons, Eddie Long and wife, Rita of Denver, Kevin Long and wife, Leslie of Denver and Stanley Long and wife, Leona of Denver; one sister, Joanne Poovey and husband, Kenneth of Denver; eight grandchildren, Kimberly Long, Kelly Fortune, Josh Long, Chase Long, Shane Long, Joshua Brooker, Nathan Heafner and Carl Buckland; two great-grandchildren, Eli Fortune and Natalie Heafner.

David Hunter Mauney III

David Hunter Mauney III, of Leland, passed away on Tuesday, October 21, 2014, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center, Wilmington.

He was born in Lincolnton, on January 22, 1939, son of David Hunter Mauney Jr. and Margaret Rheineck Mauney.

Mr. Mauney was a retired textile executive with Hanes Corporation and a third generation cotton textile leader. He was a lifelong outdoorsman, hunter, fisherman, and boating enthusiast. A North Carolina native, he always had great love, especially for Eastern North Carolina, its waterways, and the kind and gentle friends of the area.

Surviving are his wife, Sally M. Mauney; sons, David Hunter Mauney IV and wife Hope, and Charles Christian Mauney and wife Tonya; grandchildren, David Hunter Mauney V; and Harriett Ann Elizabeth Mauney; sister, Molly M. Harris and husband Carl; brothers, Robert Andrew Mauney and wife Judy and John Alfred Mauney and wife Martha; also numerous cousins, nieces and nephews in the extended Mauney family.

A funeral mass will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, October 27, 2014, at Basilica Shrine of St. Mary by the Rev. Robert J. Kus. Interment will follow at Carver’s Creek United Methodist Church Cemetery, 14343 NC Hwy. 87 East, Council, NC, 28434.

W.P. Miller Jr.

W.P. Miller Jr., 82, of West Hwy. 27, Vale passed away Friday, September 12, 2014, at CMC-Lincoln.

Born March 2, 1932, in Catawba County, he was a son of the late W.P. Miller Sr. and Grace Mae Sain Miller. He was the owner and operator of Miller Printing Company and was a member of Hull’s Grove Baptist Church. He served in the US Air Force.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Octia Brittain Miller.

Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Angie Miller of Hickory; daughters and sons-in-law, Alice and Philip Stegall of Greenville, S.C., and Ruthie and David Conner of Vale; grandchildren, Russell Conner and wife, Erin, Anna Stegall, MaLeigha Miller, BreAnna Miller, and Andrew Miller.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until 3:15 p.m. on Sunday, October 26, 2014, at Hull’s Grove Baptist Church, Vale. A memorial service will be 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 26, 2014, at Hull’s Grove Baptist Church, Vale. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Charles E. Wilkins

Charles E. Wilkins, 89, of Lincolnton died Monday, October 13, 2014 at the Levine & Dickson Hospice House of Huntersville.

He was born August 19, 1925 in Pontiac, Mich. He attended Wayne State University in Detroit, Mich., receiving his BA degree in Journalism. He also attended Cornell University in Ithaca, N.Y., and Columbia University in N.Y.

He was in the United States Army Air Corps, as a combat crew member, in WWII. He flew 22 missions. He was also in United States Air Force as a Public Relations Officer in the Korean War.

Charles in survived by two nieces, Donna Ashby of Gladwin, Mich. and Joan Gratz of Wildwood, Ill.; and nephew, James Wilkins of Culver, Ind. He was preceded in death by his wife and son.

There will no funeral services. He was cremated and his ashes were put in the Atlantic Ocean. He was a man who loved life and had many, many friends which will great miss him.
