Lions Club scholarships     

Seniors at each of the county’s four public high schools may now apply for a $500 Lincolnton Lions Club college scholarship. Applicants must be Lincoln County residents and submit an application, high school transcript, two reference letters and an essay on volunteerism. Scholarships will be awarded based on academic achievement, scholastic aptitude, financial need and volunteer service. Applications are available with each school’s guidance counselor. Deadline to apply is April 25.

Genealogical Conference                                                                                                      

Registration is now open to attend the 5th Annual Genealogical Conference April 11-12 at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church’s Parish House in Lincolnton. The two-day event is co-sponsored by the Lincoln County Historical Assocation and Gaston-Lincoln Genealogical Society. Cost is $37.45. Open Mic Night

Church concert

Rehobeth UMC, 9297 Sherrills Ford Rd. in Terrell, will host “Gospel Evening with Elvis” at 7 p.m. Cost is $15 for adults and $10 for students. Childcare/nursery will be provided for $5. Tickets may be purchased or reserved at the church office 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. weekdays.

Pottery Festival preview

Senior Games    

Opening Ceremonies for Gaston County Senior Games will be 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Sims Legion Park. Seniors will be compete in football throw, softball throw, spin casting, corn hole and a fun walk. GOP Convention

The Lincoln County GOP will host its annual convention starting with precinct meetings 10:30 a.m at the Lincoln County Senior Center, on the Gaston College-Lincoln Campus, 514 S. Academy St. in Lincolnton. Registration will start 10 a.m. and the convention will begin at 11 a.m.

Jedi Academy

GED / Adult High School

Gaston College will offer a free scholarship to pay for the GED test. To apply, students must attend a Basic Skills Orientation class 5:30-8:30 p.m. starting today (March 31) through April 3. The class is for new and returning students wishing to enter the Adult High School or GED programs. Classes will be in Room 118.
