Ray ‘Doodle’ Rogers Cagle
CROUSE — Mr. Ray “Doodle” Rogers Cagle, age 77, of 1100 George Brown Road in Crouse, died on Tuesday, October 22, 2013.
His funeral service will be 3:30 p.m. on Friday, October 25, 2013 at Cherryville Missionary Methodist Church with Rev. Bob Holtsclaw, Rev. Jerry Lail, and Rev. Darrell Bost officiating. Burial will follow in the Leonard’s Fork Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday, October 24, 2013 at Warlick Funeral Home.
Mr. Cagle was born June 13, 1936 in Lincoln County to the late Weaver Merriman and Mary Beal Cagle. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his first wife, Juanita Reynolds Cagle, his second wife, Patricia Holland Cagle, and a brother, Harold Dean Cagle. He was a retired truck driver for Carolina Freight.
He is survived by his wife, Mary “Ann” W. Cagle of the home; a son, Danny Ray (Tammy) Cagle of Crouse; a daughter, Dianna June Cagle of Charlotte; two stepsons, Robbie Absher (Paula) of Hickory and Phil Absher (Jan) of Cherryville; two sisters, Nora Lee Beam (Jack) of Iron Station and Lavada Lucy Nutter of Pickens, SC; three granddaughters, Sarah Dragoon (Jason) of Lincolnton, Danielle Albano (Michael) of Crouse, and Brittany Cagle (fiancé Thomas Morris); five step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, Kaylee Albano, Evelyn Dragoon, and Michael Albano; one step-greatgrandchild; and his K-9 companion, Patrick.

Jerry Dean Houser, age 78, of the Boger City Rest Home, died on Tuesday, October 22, 2013.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, October 25, 2013 at Boger City United Methodist Church with Rev. Eric Reece and Rev. Joe Ervin officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Thursday, October 24, 2013 at the home of his daughter, Kristy Williams, 2649 Covey Court in Lincolnton, and from 2 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. on Friday prior to the service at Boger City United Methodist Church.
Jerry was born June 28, 1935 in Lincoln County to the late J.B. and Opal Wright Houser. He served in the United States Air Force.
He is survived by his children, Kelly Lineberger and husband Gene of Lincolnton, Edward Houser and fiance’ Crystal of Morgantown, W.Va., and Kristy Williams and husband Patrick of Lincolnton; six grandchildren, Colton Lineberger, Keifer Lineberger, and Kassidy Lineberger, Laurel Hendrix, Zealy Williams and Delaney Williams; a great-granddaughter, Molly Hendrix; and former wife, Patricia Lawing Rush of Lincolnton.

Robin Craft Melton
Robin Craft Melton, 52, of Lincolnton, formerly of Hickory, passed away Tuesday, October 22, 2013 after a brief battle with cancer.
Robin was born January 5, 1961 in Catawba County to the late David Warren Craft and Martha Ann Dale Craft. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Warren and Sophie Craft and maternal grandfather, Marvin Dale.
She was a long time diet center manager and a substitute teacher in Lincoln County and at one time she was a teacher assistant at Viewmont Elementary School. She was a loving wife, mother and sister who loved life and never met a stranger, she loved animals and especially her cats and parrot, she was a people person and loved her family.
Survivors include her husband of 26 years, Mark Melton of the home; a son, Christopher Shane Melton of the home; grandmother, Virgie Chapman Dale of Hickory; two brothers, David Marvin Craft and wife Judy of Hickory and Michael Warren Craft and wife Crystal of Charlotte; three aunts, Linda Kincaid of Morganton, Connie Reese and Judy Young of Hickory, a number of nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, October 25, 2013 at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in Hickory with the Rev. Mark Andrews officiating.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. prior to the service at the church.

Cynthia Ann Peeler
Cynthia Ann Peeler, 60, of Lexington died Saturday, October 19, 2013. She was born in Lincolnton on July 13, 1953 to the late Darrell Dean Peeler and the late Barbara Ann Moss Peeler. She graduated from North Davidson Sr. High School and Davidson Community College. She enjoyed researching family history and cross-stitching.
She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Mary Jo and Nancy Peeler and her brother Mike Peeler, her maternal grandparents Dr. Oren and Anna Finch Moss, and paternal grandparents Norvin and Mary Laws Peeler.
She is survived by her sister, Judith P. Owen and her husband Howard of Graham, and her beloved nephew Josh Owen of Asheville. She is also survived by many extended family members and friends.
The family will receive friends Saturday, October 26, 2013 from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. at Salem Funeral Home (2599 Reynolda Road) to share memories and celebrate her life.
