Dana recognized for commitment

LIMA — Dana Holding Corporation, with a plant in Lima, was recently awarded a Masters of Quality Award.

Daimler Trucks North America offered the company the recognition for its work as one of its suppliers.

The Lima manufacturing facility was recognized for its “commitment to quality, delivery, technology and cost performance,” according to a release from the company.

Garner Trucking recognizes employees

FINDLAY — Garner Trucking, based in Findlay, recently recognized four of its employees for their work.

Gary Smith, a driver, was named the company’s Driver of the Year out of 100 drivers and was awarded a 2016 Freightliner Evolution to drive.

Also recognized was Zac Bassinger, Technician of the Year; and Brian Lenhart,Mark Herrick and Ed Stevens, Drivers of the Quarter.

The employees were awarded based on their attendance, no-fault accidents, clean Department of Transportation inspections, number of late deliveries, correct and efficient paperwork, electronic log updates, customer complaints and praises, driver referrals, hard braking and roll-over stability, according to a release from the company.

Smith wins mentoring award

LIMA — Dana Smith, owner of a local Mr. Appliance store, was recently awarded the Excellence in Mentoring Award.

Smith got the award at the 2015 Dwyer Group International Conference, hosted in Texas at the beginning of the month, according to a release from the group.

The award is given to franchisees who set examples for others within the company, by “conveying vision, participation and positive contribution,” according to the release.

“This award means a great deal to our whole team,” Smith said in a statement. “We aim for excellence in our business and beyond and are thankful for the recognition of our hard work.”

CERTIFICATIONS

St. Rita’s program certified

LIMA — St. Rita’s Medical Center’s Cardiac and Pulmonary rehabilitation program is now certified.

The program was certified by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation, according to a release from St. Rita’s.

The certification is valid for three years and the medical center was recognized for its “commitment to improving the quality of life by enhancing standards of care,” according to the release.

OTHER RECOGNITION

Findlay residents to speak at national conference

FINDLAY — On Oct. 6 two Findlay residents will speak at a national conference addressing poverty.

Julie Brown, program director at the Findlay-Hancock County Community Foundation, and Angela Crist, CEO at Findlay Hope House, will speak at Aha! Process’s annual Addressing the Challenges of Poverty conference on “Agency and Funder: How a Bridges Partnership Planted the Seeds of Change.”

The two will speak on the partnership between their two organizations and their work with the Bridges Out of Poverty program in Hancock County, according to a release.

HeartChase raised thousands

LIMA — Several local people attended HeartChase Lima on Sept. 12 and raised money for it, contributing to the total raised of $62,328.50.

Katie Tester, clinical shift supervisor at St. Rita’s Medical Center; Bob Baxter, president and CEO at St. Rita’s; Sam Halker, president of Smith-Boughan Inc.; Paul Crow, CEO of Tuttle Construction; and Julie Pantello, account executive and consultant for HealthSpan all raised $1,000 or more for the event, according to a release from St. Rita’s.

The event was hosted by the American Heart Association and sponsored by St. Rita’s Health Partners.
