SPENCERVILLE — Mustang owners are members of an unspoken club.

Not long ago, Nick Huber, 58, of Spencerville, decided he wanted to become a member of that club. He began that search on Craig’s List.

When Huber finally located the 1994 Ford Mustang Coupe he is now the proud owner of, it likely was not the car he had envisioned in his dreams.

Locating the vehicle in West Virginia, he bought the vehicle from a son who had bought the vehicle from his father. The car was seldom used by the first owner, used only for golf trips. He would put the golf clubs on the passenger seat, the trunk of the car had never even been used.

After buying the car from his father, the second owner drove it for a short time and parked it for what seemed like may be its final resting place.

“It was just sitting there, with 10 layers of dirt on it,” Huber said. “It had a bicycle sitting on top of it.”

Despite the problems, Huber saw a nice cruising machine underneath the dirt and made the purchase. He picked the car up in Dublin, where the son of the original owner lives.

The car now serves as Huber’s “sunny day driver,” just for fun cruises when the weather is nice.

The Ford Mustang is one car that is always on top of most car enthusiast’s must-have list. Ford Vice President Lee Iacocca and Carroll Shelby, a chicken farmer from Texas, came together to create a stylish car that was fun to drive and affordable, and they created the Ford Mustang. It was first released in 1964.

The 1994 model year marked the debut of the fourth generation Mustang. The new design was based on a heavily modified version of the third generation’s Fox platform that Ford dubbed the Fox-4. Ford poured $700 million dollars worth of research and development into creating the new design that included upgrades to the suspension system, drive shaft, brakes and engine calibrations as well as the new exterior and interior designs. It also was the first time since 1986 that a V6 engine was used in the Mustang.
