What better way to celebrate our nation’s Independence Day than with some great food? This past weekend we ventured into Brooklyn to celebrate our friend’s birthday (aka Ummm Now What) and had some really delicious food (most of which is featured below). Everything from quinoa, to goat cheese, to balls of meat (no not meatballs, balls of meat), to potato salad, burgers, hot dogs, and mexican corn. It was all so good! In an effort to jumpstart your picnic menu, here are some delicious photos of the food we ate over the weekend, and other ideas to serve at your party this 4th of July weekend… If you notice a hand with gray nail polish holding food below, that would be Pop! Goes My Culture (aka one of the world’s most famous hand models)…

Appetizers: small, plentiful, and savory

Main Course: Hamburgers and Hot Dogs

Spice up your cheese burgers with some inspiration from our neighbors south of the boarder. Pepperjack cheese and guacamole.

Cause a party ain’t a party unless potato salad is in my belly.

John’s Mexican Corn (roll in melted butter)

John’s Mexican Corn (dust with parmesan cheese and other spices)

John’s Mexican Corn (Roll in tin foil and place in the grill on medium heat for about 10 minutes)

Desserts

Dress up your cupcakes. Pictured: Red Velvet cupcakes with cream cheese frosting, and sprinkles. White hair not included.

What’s more American than Apple Pie?

Chocolate chip cookies were a delicious accident! Change it up and add in some oatmeal.

Lighting

Light up your food with sparklers!

String market lights around your patio.

Market lights set an intimate setting.

Hang lights around your fence or above your food tables.

Clustered Citronella Votive Candles give off an intimate glow and ward off those pesky bugs, too!
