Our Spirit Animals, Totems, and Familiars

Animystics is a celebration and homage of our furry friends, companions, and spirit animals. From ancient history to mythology, real life pets to legendary creatures, the exhibition recognizes the importance and impact of these animals throughout our lives. The exhibition features 120+ artists, illustrators, designers, and makers who have created beautiful and intricate originals, plush and felted dolls, archival prints and more!

This exhibition and event is also a fundraiser for local shelters. A portion of the proceeds will go towards the Animal Humane Society, Homeward Bound Dog Rescue, and Feline Rescue Inc. You can support this project by purchasing prints, donating to Light Grey Art Lab, or directly to the Animal Humane Society Walk for Animals.

About this project and animal:
Animal Type: Mammal
Animal Name: Unicorn
Physical Attributes: The Unicorn is a large, four-legged, long horn. It has roan markings on its legs, face, and tail. In the Spring, buttercups and clovers often sprout from its mane and tail. This particular unicorn has cloven hooves that allow it to walk over water. If it finds its lifelong companion, it will wear a collar around its neck or base of its horn.
Mystical Attributes: It has a special affinity to water. It is able to walk on water and make all safe for consumption. The horn (alicorn) is thought to be both the source of its strength and power, as well as a source of healing.
Healing Properties: The unicorn is particularly gifted in healing magic. They have the ability to bring life to, and restore a purified state to all living things. They are able to remove toxin from blood, and can mend broken hearts.
