Massive contract of Man United’s No.7 has been leaked

The Red Devils contract with Dutch starlet Memphis Depay has surfaced online.

Football Leaks revealed the documents, revealing a few odd clauses alongside 22-year-old’s eye-watering salary.

For his first year with Man United, the attacker is earning £100,000-a-week in basic pay, but this will drop to £75,000-a-week for the other three years of the deal if they are not playing in the Champions League.

However, Europa League or otherwise, if the Netherlands international is still at Old Trafford by September 2018, then he’ll activate a £500,000 loyalty payment.

On top of this he gets £20,000 for every start, £10,000 for every substitute appearance, and £250,000 for 20 starts in a season – which doubles if he gets to 40.

The Ballon d’Or, although far out of his reach at the moment, could also be lucrative for Depay. If he wins he’ll earn £1 million, with £500,000 for a podium, and £100,000 for being named on the shortlist.

Similarly, the former PSV man gets £500,000 for being the PFA player’s player of the year, and £100,000 for being in the PFA Premier League team of the year.

The Red Devils also have an option to extend this deal for another year, and, weirdly, are liable to pay for 10 economy flights back to his homeland each season.

On top of these staggering numbers, the forward can also benefit from United’s squad bonus scheme.

£2.5 million is shared between the players for winning the Premier League, £5.25 million for the Champions League, £1 million for the Europa League, £1 million for the FA Cup, and £500,000 for the Capital One Cup.

Red Devils send scouts to monitor Dutch striker ahead of potential move

The Red Devils are keeping tabs on AZ forward Vincent Janssen ahead of a possible move in the summer transfer window, according to reports.

He has been prolific for AZ since making his debut for the Dutch Eredivisie outfit in 2015 but is now being linked with a move to Old Trafford.

The highly-rated 21-year-old has scored 20 goals in 28 games for the Alkmaar club, stats which have unsurprisingly alerted a number of top sides.

De Telegraaf say Man United scouts were in attendance as AZ faced PSV Eindhoven on Saturday night to watch Janssen.

It’s believed Premier League rivals Everton and Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain are also monitoring the attacker.

Meanwhile, La Liga giants Barcelona are interested in signing Manchester United defender Marcos Rojo, according to Spanish media.

The South American defender was one of the first signings by under-pressure manager Louis van Gaal, arriving at Old Trafford from Sporting for £16 million in 2014. But, 26 year-old Rojo has struggled for playing time this term with persistent injury problems. Reported antics during the international break have fuelled the rumours that the centre-back may be departing Manchester during the summer transfer window, despite having 3 years remaining on a contract with United.

Although the future of United’s managerial position is unknown, the defensive situation requires considerable changes. Due to an injury crisis at the club, a number of academy graduates, including Guillermo Varela, Timothy Fosu-Mensah and Cameron Borthwick-Jackson, have been handed debuts to patch up the back four. While defensive midfielders Michael Carrick and Daley Blind have at times been able to partner centre-back Chris Smalling, Rojo could be ousted in favour of fresh new options.

Spanish reports suggest that Catalan giants Barcelona would be willing to offer £12 million as they seek new cover for starting pair Gerard Pique and Javier Mascherano. While a lower fee than United paid Sporting 2 years ago, the Premier League team may accept to offload deadweight quickly.

Syria makes sensational bid to steal Man United’s No. 1 target

It has been received wisdom in football circles for a good while now that Jose Mourinho will go to The Red Devils in the summer.

However, one of world football’s lesser-known lights seems determined to scupper the best-laid plans of Ed Woodward, the United executive vice chairman.

The Syrian Football Association has released a letter to Mourinho’s agent, Jorge Mendes, in which it calls, in Spanish, for Mourinho to take over the team ranked 123rd globally by FIFA, world football’s governing body.

“It is important,” the letter posted on Facebook explains, “for our football, at this point, to sign a world-class coach to take us to the World Cup for the first time in our history.” It is signed by Kouteba al-Refai, the Secretary General of the Syrian FA.

Portuguese manager is understood to be holding out until May for The Red Devils job currently held by Louis Van Gaal, by which point the club will have to make a decision whether to stick with the Dutchman or twist with the Portuguese sacked by Chelsea in December 2015 following a troubled start to its Premier League defense.

Syrian football has suffered mightily from the effects of the civil war that has been ongoing since 2011, with many of its professionals having joined the rebel forces fighting against Bashar al-Assad, according to a World Soccer report from August 2015.

Notably, though, the Syrian Premier League has continued this season despite the warfare.
