I have a slight obsession with apple cider vinegar water — basically, I love it! — and every time I mention that, whether in person or via social media, I get tons of questions: What does it taste like? Why do you drink it? Do you really like it?
Originally, I started drinking ACV water as part of my sinus infection protocol earlier this year, and I’ve never looked back.
Now I drink 2-3 glasses a day, and not only do I truly enjoy the taste, but it makes me feel so much better as well.
Benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar
As someone who struggled with sinus infections when I was in high school and college and recently started getting them again, I was first drawn to apple cider vinegar after reading that regularly drinking ACV in water could actually help thin mucus (confession: I hate that word!) and prevent recurring infections.
What I was surprised to discover, though, was that I actually feel so much better when I’m drinking it. I have more energy and more focus, and I just feel better in general. It could be that — because I actually look forward to drinking it — part of the benefit is just simply a byproduct of drinking more water each day. But I can tell a difference even on days when I drink a lot of water without ACV, so I’m not convinced that that’s the only benefit.
My favorite benefit, though, is that it curbs my sugar cravings! Its slightly tart, slightly sweet flavor fits the bill perfectly when I’m craving something sweet, which means I snack less and consume less sweets when I’m drinking it.
(Although I can’t attest to all of these, here are 10 more benefits of apple cider vinegar from Natural News as well!)

How to Make ACV Water
ACV water is easy to make. I started by carefully measuring 2 teaspoons of apple cider vinegar for every 12-16 ounces of water and then adding 4-5 drops of liquid stevia. Some people use honey, and a friend of mine doesn’t use any sweetener at all, so feel free to experiment.
I’m a little less precise now, and I usually just splash some ACV in the bottom of my glass (probably closer to a tablespoon at this point), add a few drops of stevia and then fill the glass with water (I like to do it in that order because I feel like the water does the stirring for me as it splashes into the glass!).
I make it fresh several times a day when I’m at home, but I’ve also started packing it in mason jars to go when I’ll be away from home all day. It doesn’t stay as cold as I like it (oddly enough, I prefer regular water at room temperature and ACV water ice cold), but it does ensure that I’m drinking it when I’m out of the house!
More Uses for Apple Cider Vinegar
ACV can actually be used for a ton of other applications besides salad dressings and water:
Jasmine at Like a Mustard Seed lists her favorite uses here.
I was excited to read this post with simple pimple home remedies at Crunchy Betty a couple weeks ago, and I’ve had a lot of success with dabbing ACV on developing pimples to get rid of them more quickly!
Along those same lines, some people even use ACV as a toner after washing their face. I’m thinking about trying this to see if I can stop breaking out altogether.
There’s no doubt that apple cider vinegar ranks up there with coconut oil and bentonite clay as part of our home remedies arsenal!
