It’s no secret that Hubbalicious and I are big animal lovers. We’ve always had pets, we will continue to always have pets, and we pull over to save dogs who have been hit by a car. It’s just how we roll. So imagine our surprise when we realized last week that we had never taken D.O. to the zoo! That’s just unacceptable. So, off to the zoo we went. This morning we woke up and headed out to The Austin Zoo & Animal Sanctuary.

Now, before we get to the cuteness of our trip, I want to just talk about this zoo for a minute. As a kid (and an animal lover) I LOVED the zoo. But now, as an adult, I find it a little sad. Even though I love to see the exotic animals, it’s a little depressing to see them all caged up and living outside their natural habitat. So while some people may find the Austin Zoo to be a bit of a letdown (or so I’ve heard) due to the lack of many exotic animals typically found in zoos… I found myself enjoying it for that very reason. I liked knowing that these animals were rescues and that this was their sanctuary. Maybe that’s just me, but it made my heart happy as we spent our day walking past the many different habitats.

So without further ado – let me share with you our first trip to the zoo, with our sweet little man. It was such a great day, and a perfect way to spend some family time this weekend.

How cute was that? He had so much fun feeding the goats, and the deer, and the llama! What did you do this weekend?
