If you are a frequent eat-outer at Linking road, Andheri (w) Congratulations! You have got two more options to choose from – A. Alfredo’s has come to Andheri yay! (Not that Juhu was far but still yay!) And B. Just a month old place called Mélange is on its way to become favorite place for many. I am sure the morningers are happier as the place open for the breakfast at 8:30 am and serve it for rest of the day as well but here are the top 3 reasons – Why you should visit Mélange?

A. Food!

My first order was the Turkish Pide – Mantarli (Rs.165): When I bit into the very soft freshly baked bread with delicious and sumptuous filling of Mushrooms and green olives in tomato concasse spiced with loads of paprika n in house chilli jam, I couldn’t have asked for more! Whatte briiliant dish!  Mushroom fans do try it!

(Trivia – Mantarli is a Turkish word for Mushrooms, interesting ehh!)

Mediterranean Touch Panini (Rs. 195): Zucchini, Roasted Bell peppers in a freshly baked Panini Bread with a sweet and tangy Lettuce Salad, perfectly seasoned Wedges, olive tapenade and feta cheese on the side… What not to love? :)

Spicy Tandoori Baked Burger (Rs.200) - Well McD has done some serious damage to my love for Veg burgers…  But oh boy, what a winner this one was! One of the best veg burger that Vicky and I have had. First thing we did (After clicking 1000 Pics of it) was removed tomatoes :P yeah, we both do not like it raw in our sandwich/Burger. And no, not 1000 it was so beautiful that 2 clicks and it was ready to be licked! :D The patty was nice and that aioli mayo on the top and side – superb!

Chilly Tofu Fritters in Tortilla (Rs. 225) - I wouldn’t have ordered it if it wasn’t Hardik’s (Owner and Head Chef) recommendation. Despite being in a bed of delightful sauce (tomatoes, bell peppers n basil) and wrapped in a smooth tortilla, the tofu fritters didn’t lose its charm (read: crispiness) yet it wasn’t oily.  I got a very arrabiatta sauce-y feeling but WTH it tasted goooood! :D

I think I’ll go third time very very soon to try the wild Omlet, shepherd’s pie (they use kidney beans to veg it), Creamy Mushroom crostini and Roasted Sweet potato and Leek frittata and yes, pretty much everything else on the menu ;)

B. Desserts

Oh wait isn’t that food? Yes, it is! But I feel it should be given a limelight-ish mention.  Dessert section had Pancakes, Cheesecake, Panacotta, Tart. Precisely, some 9 desserts to choose from and my heart was clockworking between Bailley’s Mousse and Green Apple Brulee (Rs.150), so I went with the latter and I died!

The green apple fennel chutney on the side was the showstopper for me! Little salty apple pieces with a subtle fennel flavor, gorgeous! The brulee had a nice crisp crust and almond biscotti/crumble on the side was beautiful too.

I went back for the Bailey’s mousse yesterday but they refused to serve it and I was about to say What?-Why?-I-have-come-specially-for-that  and just then they explained that it was freshly made in the afternoon and they think it wasn’t completely set just the like they would want to serve so I should try something else and loyalist in me ordered  a green apple brulee again :D

C.People

Hardik and his team (special mention to Sangeeta) are doing a great job. I don’t know how other people perceive it but I love the fact that Hardik would go to each table and would ask about their experience. A little sweet thing that they do is ask your name while taking the order and He goes through the quick notes and addresses you by your name.

Given that Hardik has had a stint with Starbucks back in Australia and even had opened a café there, I have a feeling that Coffee would be great too… Yes, haven’t tried it yet but will visit the place soon. (I get too much loyal at times and biased too! ) But a visit to Mélange will certainly make your day :)

(Average Rs 700 for two)

Happy Mélange-ing :D
