In spite of being one of the largest states, Montana’s population is very small, which means that it is a great choice for people who like to spend their vacation outdoors. The options range from exploring the wild nature to winter sports, fishing, canoeing, kayaking, biking and hiking. The nature is spectacular, from the Rocky Mountains in the west to Yellowstone National Park in southern Montana.
Food options
It is quite logical that cities in Montana, which are surrounded with wild nature, offer numerous restaurants and markets with outstanding cuisine and an extensive choice of foods. And here is some extra advice, which is based on my own experience, for fellow travelers who eat in raw food restaurants, in Missoula, Bozeman, Billings and Whitefish you will have a fair amount of places to choose from.
’’Going-to-the- Sun Road’’, Glacier National Park

Glacier National park offers more than 700 miles of hiking and biking paths, as well as thick forests, waterfalls, glaciers and meadows, so it is a heaven for adventurous travelers. The most interesting part is Going-to-the-Sun Road, which is 50 miles long, and connects St Mary to West Glacier, through the Logan Pass which is 7477 feet high.
The Grizzly and Wolf Discovery Center
If you really desire to see a bear or a wolf up close, you should definitely visit the Grizzly and Wolf Discovery Center. This center is a sanctuary for animals that have become too comfortable around humans or were orphaned. Here you can see huge grizzly bears and gray wolves in their natural habitat, and collect some information about their behavior, history and, sadly, population decrease.
Museum of the Rockies

This museum, which is a part of the Smithsonian Institution, also offers a planetarium, displays of dinosaurs and dinosaur eggs, as well as skeletons and realistic models of many species which were found in Montana. The dinosaur collection in this museum is actually the largest in the US. You get to see the world’s biggest Tyrannosaurus skull, T-Rex thigh bone with the remaining part of soft-tissue and a T-Rex skeleton at the entrance.
The Good Food Store
The Good Food Store is a large market that offers organic products. There is also a deli, soup and salad bar, and indoor seating. Here you can also buy extensive bulk food, nutritional supplements, vitamins, personal care products, pet supplies, etc. They also host cooking classes. You will come across this store at 1600 S Third W (at Russel), Missoula.

This was my first time in Montana, USA. Let me just say – I fell in love with the nature immediately. I’m sure you will do the same. Also, I was concerned about my specific diet, but there was nothing to worry about. If you are planning to visit this part of the world I hope you will have a great time too!
