Robert Carterette, Director of Information Technology and CLEVNET (a 38-member consortium), Cleveland Public Library (CPL), has retired after a career of more than 25 years.

Chris Dames was recently named Dean of Libraries, University of Missouri–St. Louis. He had been serving as Interim Dean.

Brian Hare is the new Youth Services Manager, Cleveland Heights–University Heights Public Library; he most recently was Director, Liberty Center Public Library, OH. He succeeds Susan Black, who is retiring after nearly 34 years of service.

Richard Hasenyager, former Director for Library Services at North East Independent School District, TX, and a 2011 Library Journal (LJ) Mover & Shaker, was appointed Director of Library Services, New York City’s Department of Education. He replaces Barbara Stripling, who left at the end of 2011 and is now president-elect, American Library Association.

Greg Mickells will assume the position of Director, Madison Public Library, WI, in September. He currently is Assistant Library Director, Lincoln City Libraries, NE.

Tracy Smith has been promoted from Public Services Librarian to Director of College Libraries, Pearl River Community College (PRCC), Poplarville, MS, succeeding the retiring Jeanne Dyar. Smith has worked at PRCC for 20 years.

Kathy Thompson, Director, Chapel Hill Library, NC, for the past 27 years, has announced her retirement, effective at the end of September.

Diane Walden has been named Institutional Library Development Coordinator, Colorado State Library (CSL). A 2011 LJ Mover and Shaker, Walden was Correctional Library Senior Consultant, CSL.

David Willis has been appointed Colorado Regional Director, Master of Library Science Program, School of Library and Information Management, Emporia State University, Overland Park, KS. He most recently was Lead Librarian, Front Range Community College, Westminster, CO.

Carol Wohlford will become the new Director, Eudora Public Library, KS, in September. She currently is Director, Andover Public Library, KS.

Charlotte Mecklenburg Library (CML), NC, welcomes three new Deputy Directors. Michele Gorman, a 2003 LJ Mover & Shaker, is the Deputy Director for Lifelong Learning; she previously was Teen Services Coordinator, CML. Leonora Kaufmann and Lois Kilkka are Deputy Directors for Library Experiences. Kaufmann was Director, AHEC Library, Carolinas Healthcare System. Kikka was Library Manager, ImaginOn Branch, CML.
