While staying at The Tides Hotel Boracay, I figured it was the best time to visit Epic, which happens to be one of their sister establishments. Even way before I’ve set foot on Boracay, I’ve been hearing a lot of good feedback about Epic. When I ask friends what establishments I should visit in Boracay, Epic would always come first. The thing is, I’d always feel intimidated when I pass by Epic. I always thought it was a place full of swankiness (well it is swanky) and that everything here was expensive. Nonetheless, I finally entered the doors of Epic to experience what I’ve been missing out.

Epic opened its doors on December 2010 mainly to cater to tourists who are looking for a nice place to have a good time. Now, Epic Boracay holds the distinction of being Boracay Island’s premier hostpot. Why not, when the team behind Epic are the creators of Manila’s hottest superclubs: Encore, Manor, and Republiq! We are surely in for a feast for our senses here at Epic.

Literally, Epic is a “moving” place. It is a World Grill by day and a Beach Club by night. By day, the modern interiors depict a chill, laid-back atmosphere, while an alfresco area which extends up to the beach front allows you to enjoy vivid views of the White Beach, its famed sunset and the people passing by. By night, it transforms into a full-on beach club.

Located by the beachfront at D’Mall, this place is at the center of it all. It is indeed the EPICenter!

So without much ado, let’s check out the Epic Beach Cuisine menu. Coined by Chef Carlo Miguel, this new and re-energized menu offers fresh, bold island flavors, with ingredients sourced locally, that promise to be the culinary highlight of your Boracay trip. Also, Epic’s signature cocktails are especially concocted by New York mixologist David Dennis. He introduced the “Fresh Bar” concept allowing guests at Epic to muddle their favorite premium pours with fresh fruits into a refreshing cocktail. Sounds exciting!

Blue Cheese Salad. P320. with arugula, pear, walnut and truffle honey dressing. This one’s a delicious starter. I love, love, love blue cheese! I’m not really a salad fan, sometimes I’m in the mood for some salad, sometimes, I’m not. But I love how this salad brings together ingredients that really enhance and complement each other. The pears were perfectly tart, in contrast to the bitterness of the arugula. Sweet, sour, bitter, crunchy, the outcome is a lovely combination of flavors and textures.

Grilled Tiger Prawns. P580 fresh from the island, served with grilled asparagus and mango salsa. Crustaceans taste good even without any condiments or sauces, especially these tiger prawns, which had a very exquisite flavor while having a great meaty texture. Add the mango salsa and you have a good combination making it a delectably light starter.

Epic Baby Back Ribs. P750. with honey-bourbon barbecue sauce, baked potato and grilled corn. This is an ultimately sinful dish. If you’re looking to pig out, then you have to order this. I was caught off-guard and lost my poise when this was being served. It’s size is overwhelming! Anyway, the ribs were super-flavorful and the meat was extra tender that they just fell off the bones! I can eat this even without the sauce but I loved how the barbecue sauce was a perfect balance of sweet, tangy, and slightly hot and spicy. Two-thumbs up!

L: Fresh Pineapple Juice; R: Muddled Mango Mojito I couldn’t say anything about the pineapple juice. It was simply pulpy fresh. Meanwhile, even if I don’t drink, I just had to taste Epic Boracay’s signature drink, their fruit-muddled mojitos! Choose from mango, watermelon, lychee or dalandan (seasonal), I had the Muddled Mango Mojito. The term muddled comes from “muddy-looking”. The muddling of the chunks of mango and sprigs of mint releases their juices and natural oils, resulting into a very refreshing drink, perfect especially for the summer! I consider Epic’s flavor incarnation on this timeless concoction as one of the best! (Do drop-by from 12 noon to 10pm for Epic’s Happy Hour where you can get 2 mojitos for only P180 and local beers for only P80.)

It was time for my most-awaited part of the meal, but Epic was in “transition” mode. Tables were moving before me and I witnessed how the main dining hall transformed from being a bright, tranquil yet stylish hangout into a full-on Beach Club. I moved to one of their lounge sofas just beside the DJ’s booth.

Notice how the lighting in this photo became dimmer. Epic Boracay has already transformed to a full-fledged party hotspot! Chocolate Fudge Brownie. P220. unbelievably fudgy, served a la mode with vanilla ice cream. As the description reads, this dessert is to-die-for! Brownie ala mode may seem common nowadays, but Epic’s take on this popular dessert is something that shouldn’t be missed. The brownie was moist, chocolaty, and indeed fudgy, so good I could cry. Add the ice cream and I was instantly brought to a new high. The combination adorably melts in your mouth!

It’s party time!

After such a sinfully-good meal, I just had to stand up and walk around since I was feeling bloated already. I appreciate the friendly staff at Epic who offered to watch over my things on the table while I go around and socialize. I stood by the bar and was approached by a lovely couple from London. After a few minutes, we got acquainted with each other. I also got to mingle with a lively group from Kimchi-land who asked me to take a photo of them. I therefore conclude that while Epic is best enjoyed with friends, it is also the best place for single peeps looking to get to know, hang out and make new friends while in Boracay.

As the night progressed, I was lucky to have bumped into a good friend, Renz. He also happened to be Boracay with high school friends. Thank goodness, I was no longer alone. It was really nice to hangout with you guys, even for a short while. Sa uulitin! (P.S. Thanks Kem for allowing me to post the photos here)

ALL IN ALL, it was truly an Epic Saturday night at Epic Boracay. Great food + Great people + Great music + Great atmosphere = Great memories worth cherishing for a long time. A trip to Boracay won’t be complete without dropping by Epic, even for one night, you just have to. I know I will be back soon.

Dine, drink, and dance at Boracay Island’s premiere hotspot where there’s always something happening on any given night of the week, all-year-round. Welcome to EPIC Boracay!
