On Monday, Nike shook up the sports world by announcing that Colin Kaepernick would be the newest face on their “Just Do It” campaign. This has led to calls for boycotts of Nike products by conservatives.

Following the announcement by Nike, the NFL released a statement on social justice issues and Colin Kaepernick.

“The National Football League believes in dialogue, understanding and unity,” NFL executive VP of communications and public affairs Jocelyn Moore wrote in a statement on Tuesday. “We embrace the role and responsibility of everyone involved with this game to promote meaningful, positive change in our communities. The social justice issues that Colin and other professional athletes have raised deserve our attention and action.”

Kaepernick started the protests back in 2016 as a response to systematic racism in the United States. While the NFL says that what he did is important, Kaepernick says that team owners are colluding against him to prevent him from playing in the league.

While Trump fans were already busy burning their Nike gear, the NFL statement seemed to push them into more misery.

That sound you just heard was the @NFL having more fans leave. I cannot grasp what the #NFL is thinking. What is the malfunction… pic.twitter.com/iuLjdn4zKR

NFL is a joke… taking my money to the AAF.

What about the fans? DO we not matter? Do our needs not matter? Our needs are we are fed up with it all. These over paid whiners talk the game but never are walking it. POTUS gave them an opportunity to help on Prison Reform, they refused it. Right there, all talk, no action.

Its ok I would rather watch college football now…

And @NFL wonders why they suck. Un-American thugs. Why aren’t they protesting in the off season?! #BoycottNFL #BoycottNFLSponsors #BoycottNike @nflcommish @NFLPA @Nike

The NFL is about football. There are other places for social justice arguments. Try the courts, community organizations, Congress etc. I and millions of others will abandon the NFL if this becomes an issue during NFL activities!

I will not watch the NFL or buy anything from Nike until all players stand on the field for the National Anthem. We the people will bankrupt the NFL. Just wait and see. Nike sales will go way down. You can take that to the bank. #MAGA
