Anna Esty joined Harvard College Library (HCL) as a research librarian in the Services for Academic Programs department. In this position, she will participate in all Research, Teaching and Learning services and initiatives; support virtual and direct reference services, outreach programs, user-facing technology and library learning initiatives; and participate in ongoing assessment and support for pedagogical experimentation, knowledge-sharing and innovation. Esty previously worked as a library assistant in the Serials Department in the Stan Getz Library and Media Center at the Berklee College of Music. She holds a BA from Kenyon College and an MSLIS from Simmons.
Brittany Fay recently started as a library assistant in the Chemistry and Chemical Biology Library. Fay graduated from Harvard in May 2012 with an AB in East Asian studies. As an undergraduate student, she worked in the conservation lab in Widener Library, and she hopes to begin working on an MSLIS at Simmons in the fall.
Odile Harter joined HCL as a research librarian in the Services for Academic Programs department. In this position, she will participate in all Research, Teaching and Learning services and initiatives; support virtual and direct reference services, outreach programs, user-facing technology and library learning initiatives; and participate in ongoing assessment and support for pedagogical experimentation, knowledge-sharing and innovation. Harter previously worked at HCL as a graduate assistant in the Woodberry Poetry Room and as a presidential instructional teaching fellow for Poetry @ Harvard. She also worked as a teaching fellow in Harvard's English department. She holds a BA from Yale and a PhD from Harvard.
John Hostage, authorities and database integrity librarian in Information and Technical Services (ITS), was appointed to the Program for Cooperative Cataloging (PCC) Task Group on the Creation and Function of Name Authorities in a Non-MARC Environment. The task force was created to investigate the role and function of name authorities in the future—especially how to move away from creating undifferentiated personal names. Hostage also helped present a workshop on RDA at the American Association of Law Libraries conference in Boston in July. Hostage has been with the Harvard Library since August 2012, after joining the Harvard Law School Library in 1982.
Katie Leach joined HCL as a bibliographic specialist for English-language materials in the Collection Development department. In this role, she will work in close collaboration with staff responsible for English-language collection development and ITS to oversee vendor approval plans and manage the English-language collections in Widener Library. Leach previously worked as a library assistant at Schlesinger Library, where she was responsible for creating and maintaining bibliographic records and maintaining serial holding records, as a teaching assistant in the history department at Simmons College and as a library assistant at the Massachusetts Historical Society. She holds a BA in history from Portland State University, as well as MA's in history and library and information sciences, both from Simmons.
Annalyse Tamashiro joined HCL as an administrative coordinator in Harvard-Yenching Library. In this role, she will be responsible for a wide range of administrative functions related to Harvard-Yenching Library and the Librarian’s Office, including the areas of personnel, finance, facilities and security management. Tamashiro has provided administrative support for Harvard-Yenching Library since October as a temporary administrative coordinator. She holds a BA from Colby College.
