1. Talk to Your Neighbor
Even if you tried a few tricks and it didn’t work, don’t go to the police department just yet without talking to your neighbor first. Most of the time, a neighbor may not even know he or she is causing enough noise to annoy those around them. While some may put up a fuss, 99 percent of the time, this problem can be resolved with some good old-fashioned communication.
When you approach your neighbor, don’t be confrontational; instead, politely explain what’s bugging you and see if you can come up with a resolution. If you’re the type who doesn’t like dealing with strangers, consider writing a polite note and slipping it in their door.
2. Consider a Fence
Take a look at your backyard. If you don’t have a fence installed, you may want to consider installing one for a few reasons. If your HOA has certain quiet times put in place, they may threaten the guilty neighbor with a fine; however, this isn’t always the case. If you live in an HOA, read your by-laws to see what it says.
