Wow, what a whirlwind first three days of free agency. The Redskins have been active and selective and have addressed most of their off-season needs with young veterans. Hopefully there is enough cap room remaining to pickup a safety, otherwise the focus will begin shifting to the NFL draft.
Friday Visitors
TE Owen Daniels – Since Jimmy Graham doesn’t count, top FA TE.
DB
Walter Thurmond
III – Cancelled visit, signed with New York Giants.
DB
Brandon Browner
– Browner never made it out of Boston, 3 years/$17 million with Pats.

Confirmed: Brandon Browner has a 3-year, $17M contract with #Patriots. Complex deal with everything involved.

The Redskins may be interested in OT Donald Penn (visiting Raiders) and certainly are continuing to shop for inside linebackers. Tampa Bay signed ‘Skins target Anthony Collins, making Penn expendable. The $2 million dollars in savings with the pending release of Will Montgomery could be used for a RT. Kory Lichtensteiger will slide over to take over the center position. Akeem Jordan is a local product (James Madison national championship team) who spent six seasons with the Eagles before signing a one year deal with the Chiefs. If GM Bruce Allen can add one more player at each of these positions, the draft focus will be at wide receiver and safety.
FYI: penn is at redskins park. Arrived short time ago. Visit will spill into Monday, source says

The Redskins are bringing back some of their own free agents; WR Santana Moss, DL Chris Baker, LB Perry Riley, DB DeAngelo Hall and most likely LB Brian Orakpo are returning in Burgundy and Gold. Seven, possibly eight players have been added to the roster, the biggest “impact” signing coming on Thursday, direct from Dallas.

The issue w Bruce Campbell's physical, which prevented him from signing was RE recovery from rotator cuff surgery done in fall , I'm told.

Top Safeties Available
Just reminding the ‘Skins that Chris Clemons is still available. Not unlike the Browner confusion, the one-time Redskins defensive lineman with the same name, did in fact sign with Jacksonville. The safety is still available.
There is no interest in Clemons, they don’t think he’s a fit RT @triple569: any talk of Chris Clemons coming in or is safety focus on Clark?
— Rich Tandler (@Rich_TandlerCSN) March 16, 2014
"Top" FA safeties left: 1. Chris Clemons 2. Nate Allen 3. Major Wright 4. Charles Woodson 5. Steve Gregory 6. Thomas DeCoud 7. Ryan Clark.
