This is Jessica of M & J Photography. There’s something about her and I could see it from a mile away. Something different. Raw, unfiltered talent. Brave talent. Willing to take risks and let nothing get in her way. She’s one of the few that sees things differently; in a whole new way. I like to say that she has a beautiful brain.
So, when she mentioned she needed new head shots and I threw my name in the hat, I was stoked when a message landed in my inbox asking me to do them. I jumped at the chance and was humbled by the experience. I knew I was stepping into her world and that I had to truly capture her. I wanted to create something a little different than the average head shots and I think together we made that happen. You’re going to be seeing more and more of her as her unique style is noticed in the photography world. Her work has been featured here and she’s running as fast as she can with her vision. I can’t wait to see what else she has up her sleeve.
She welcomed me with open arms into her beautiful, natural light studio in the Russell Industrial Center. A brave choice to have a studio in one of the grittiest locations in Detroit. Yet, it works and is perfect for her.
My name is Mishelle Lamarand and I am a wedding and portrait photographer based in Metro Detroit, Michigan. I am always flattered when another creative, like Jessica, asks to get in front of my camera and capture who they are. I’ve shot a handful of photographer’s head shots and always strive to really capture their being, versus just what they look like. I love to explore new settings and surroundings, and love stepping into their world. I’ve been shooting professionally for seven years and specialize in natural light.
