Day two of The 8th Annual Legends World Sports Conference provided NBRPA members with a wide array of events and seminars to choose from, including a variety of workshops that proved to be very valuable to attendees.

The workshops began at 11 a.m. and featured many renowned speakers and professionals including Dr. Corey Hebert, Carolyn Moos, Big Ten Network producers Quentin Carter, Lamont Mims and Stephen Bardo, School Yard All Stars’ Dane Jensen and Nicolas McRae, John Thomas, Thurl Bailey, Mark Eaton, Chasity Melvin, Jimmelle Dee Melvin, Jon Harris, Glenn Sugiyama, UNLV Men’s Head Basketball Coach Marvin Menzies, Gwendolyn Bell, Eddie Gill, Joseph Frank, Susan Inwood, Larry Stybel, Coach Mo Morris Michalski and Dave Lower.

The workshops provided members with the chance to gain knowledge on technology, broadcasting, public speaking, health and wellness, wealth management, entrepreneurial business, coaching, careers in sports, career transition, continuing education, social media, philanthropic fundraising and more

Specific topics of the workshops included: Branding Your Likeness, Strengthening Your Marriage, Life Phases: Are You Ready? An Interactive Approach for Retired Players, Developing/Expanding Board Options in Your Career, Building a Career in Broadcasting, Basketball Career Opportunities with Ultimate Hoops, Time To Get Checked, Paid Professional Speaking and The Playbook for Networking.

Speakers like Nicholas McRae of School Yard All Stars said he was happy to give insight to members.

“We were real excited to be here,” said McRae. “To be able to provide the NBRPA members with information that they feel they can use to help them is a cool feeling.”

McRae and his business partner Dane Jensen hosted the ‘Branding Your Likeness’ session where they gave tips to members on how to use their playing careers to brand themselves into multiple types of opportunities.

Among another highlight of the breakout session was Dr. Corey Hebert who joined Carolyn Moos early on in the day to teach members about the effects of poor and proper nutrition followed by his ‘Time To Get Checked’ seminar later in the afternoon.

“It’s always great to help with the NBRPA and make a difference,” said Dr. Hebert.

Members raved about the valuable insight they gathered from the workshops.

“These seminars were a real highlight to what the NBRPA has to offer,” said Jerome Williams.

The National Basketball Retired Players Association (NBRPA) is comprised of former professional basketball players from the NBA, ABA, WNBA and Harlem Globetrotters.
