Background Information
For sale is a 5 speed manual 2005 Subaru Legacy GT Limited wagon with 201,100 miles. Yes, one of the few 5sp GT wagons only produced in 2005. This particular combination is 1 or 117 produced. The car is Atlantic Blue Pearl in color with black perforated leather interior. I purchased the car from the original owner in Tom’s River, NJ. I purchased it to resell. When I got the car it had a CEL for a misfire on cylinders 2 and 4. I sent the injectors out to DeatschWerks to be cleaned and flow tested. I have the flow sheets and receipt. I reinstalled them in the car and the CEL seems to be gone. As the pre and post flow tests show, 2 injectors were clogged which is what I believe was causing the CEL.
The car has always been adult owned and well maintained. The car was driven at least 100 miles per day commuting from Toms River, NJ to Linden, NJ via the Garden State Parkway. Fortunately, the GSP is a nice road that is well maintained so they were easy commuting miles. It has never been modified whatsoever. It has a clean title and was involved in one accident. Someone rolled through a stop sign and hit the passenger side wheel/fender area at roughly 15 MPH back in 2006. The fender was damaged and the strut was bent. The subframe under the fender was not damaged, the hood was not damaged and the door was not damaged. The damaged parts were all bolt-on and were replaced. There have been no issues with the repaired area ever.
As far as maintenance, the prior owner did not keep all the records but was able to get records from 2011 and beyond from the repair shop near his office in Linden, NJ called Action Auto Repair which is where he had most of the work on the car done post-warranty. Here is a list of the work that has been done to the car:
Front Brakes – new rotors and ceramic pads done by me 5 miles ago, that’s 5 miles, not 5k miles
Rear Brakes – rotors changed once but not sure when, new ceramic pads 20k ago
Transmission – fresh Lucas Oil synthetic gear oil 3k ago
Rear Differential – fresh gear oil 5 miles ago
CV Axles – Front Left was replaced at 158k (have receipt) Was told by owner that the front right was replaced prior to 2011
Tires – new Hankook Ventus tires at 195k (have receipt) Look like new and are wearing evenly
Clutch - Replaced prior to 2011 (not sure of the exact mileage when this was done but it would stand to reason that it was around 140k)
Timing Belt done at 142k
Cam Seals done at 168k (have receipt)
Radiator replaced with new unit at 181k (have receipt)
Front Right Bearing/Hub replaced at 154k (have receipt)
Other Wheel Bearings/Hubs was told by previous owner that they were replaced prior to 2011
Alignment at 199k (have receipt)
Driver Door Window Motor was replaced at 182k (have receipt)
Battery - 3 months old
Drivetrain: The car drives perfectly straight with no alignment issues. Prior owner was told that the front lower control arm bushings should be replaced soon. The motor and turbo are believed to be original. It does not smoke at all or make any unwanted noises. It still boosts nicely as it should. The longevity of this motor is due to the easy commuting nature of the miles on the car and religious synthetic oil changes every 5k. The car does burn roughly one to one and a half quarts in between oil changes (every 5k miles). It has done this since new and has not gotten any better or worse.
The transmission shifts well and does not make any whining noises. The clutch picks up confidently and smoothly.
The body is rust free but does have its fair share of nicks and dings. The car was always garaged when at home but was parked in an exterior parking lot when at work. There are no major dents but there are a number of small imperfections. The car looks great from 10 feet but once up close, you will notice these imperfections. I’ll try to highlight them in the photos.
The interior is good overall but does have some imperfections and regular wear. Everything works though such as the double sun-roof, heated seats, air conditioning, climate control, radio, power seats, power locks, heated windshield, heated mirrors, gauges, etc. There is a cargo cover in the trunk. The spare tire appears to have light use. The jack and tools are all present. There is a Sirius XM Radio mount and antenna.
I believe that the suspension is original. The rear struts make some noise when going over large bumps. I believe that a rear strut mount is bad. The car does not bounce at all and none of the struts are leaking. This is truly a testament to the easy nature of the miles on this car for it to have original struts at 200k. The front suspension is tight and does not make any noises. The wheels are all straight and have some minor imperfections/curbage but are overall in good condition.
I have one spare key and one key fob. The car has a clean NJ title with no liens. This car was not damaged at all by Hurricane Sandy. At the time of the storm it was in a garage on high dry land.
