One year ago today, Local Natives released their sophomore album, Hummingbird, and proceeded to spend the remainder of 2013 relentlessly touring in support of it. In celebration of the LP’s anniversary, the L.A.-based band have made all of the album stems available for free download, encouraging fans to create and submit their own homemade remixes. To help launch the remix competition, Local Natives have released their own reworking of Hummingbird highlight “Ceilings”.
This new treatment infuses the original with a spacier vibe filled with skittering percussion and wavy synths. Like their previous self-remix “You & I”, “Ceilings” is driving and brings new life to the song. Stream the new version of “Ceilings” below and participate in the Hummingbird remix competition here.
