MIAMI, FL—(Marketwired – July 08, 2015) – Social Media Week Miami comes to Wynwood during the week of September 14, 2015. Part of the global series of conferences known as Social Media Week, the Miami conference will provide a platform for networking and learning from professionals who are leading the way in digital innovation in fields that include, but are not limited to, media, marketing, advertising and public relations. “Our goal is to become Miami's top digital conference,” said Ernesto Sosa, partner at Eventcrowd, the company that organizes Social Media Week Miami. “We are leveraging the globally known Social Media Week brand to attract the best social media talent, technology experts and top influencers to this area. We already have commitments from leading minds in business, technology and media for a content–rich program that will explore and reimagine the power of human connectivity.”

One such person, Sean Gardner, was ranked by Forbes magazine as the number one social media influencer of 2013. Gardner, who has a background in marketing and public relations, is an African–American social media consultant and correspondent for numerous publications. He co–created the Huffington Post's Twitter Powerhouses Series, which profiles newsmakers in fields that intersect with social media. Smedio, the digital marketing guide for businesses and entrepreneurs, has called Gardner a “true social media icon.” “To come speak at Social Media Week Miami, Gardner is literally taking the red eye flight from Brussels where he has been asked to speak to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) about social media,” said Eventcrowd Partner Lawrence Pedrosa. “Influencers like Gardner are not simply playing around on Facebook.”

Social Media Week Miami has also partnered with the international digital marketing agency SapientNitro. “In today's always–on world, many companies understand the power of social media — though far fewer are able to fully harness its power to drive consumer actions and spur meaningful business results,” said Stevie Dove, Director, SapientNitro Social Studio. “SapientNitro's participation in Social Media Week Miami is an opportunity to share our proven expertise in creating integrated, immersive, experience–driven digital strategies with the city's best and brightest industry professionals.”

Prezi, another company partnering with Social Media Week Miami, will be doing more than sharing ideas. It will customize each keynote speaker presentation using the Prezi cloud–based software, which uses a zooming interface to transform flat presentation slides into a multi–dimensional story canvas. “It's an honor to be part of such a prestigious event and join the established group of leaders that will be speaking about something as dynamic as social media,” said Prezi Chief Marketing Officer Scott Kabat, who will be delivering a keynote address at the conference.

Social Media Week Miami 2015 will offer lessons on monetization. Former Estefan Enterprises General Counsel Jessie Abad will lead a panel on the pivotal role social media is playing in the world of music, and how aspiring artists will not get that record deal without a social media following. Nuvi will teach a social analytics workshop that helps brands discover how consumers and the public at large engages with their messages. “People really want to know how they as individuals, or their businesses, can monetize their social media activities,” said Pedrosa. “We will also talk about emerging business models that are doing just that.”

The conference will also emphasize media. Social Media Week Miami has partnered with the National Hispanic Journalists Association in order to provide cutting edge digital training for journalists, in both English and Spanish. Also, in a panel titled Advocacy Journalism: #BlackLivesMatter participants will discuss the changing role of journalists in a digital age where the newsmakers break their own stories on Twitter.

As in previous years where Social Media Week has brought attention to highly serious topics such as How Social Media Facilitates and Helps Fight Human Trafficking, this year the conference will include discussions on issues like: Cuba: How a Nation Comes Online, How Political Campaigns Use Social Media to Engage Voters, and Digital Bad Guys, a panel that will explore topics that include ISIS' online recruitment efforts, revenge porn, and cyber bulling.

Social Media Week Miami 2015 will take place at the Miami Ad School. Simultaneous with the Miami conference, the cities of Sao Paulo, London, Mumbai and Rotterdam will be hosting their Social Media Week conferences. All discussions will touch upon this year's global theme which is: “Upwardly Mobile: The Rise of the Connected Class.”
