How to find a niche or niche market in order to make money online is not as complicated as you may think. You want to keep it simple, fun, and relatively easy.

When you go online and search this topic, you’ll find a number of Internet Marketing Gurus that supply a decent amount of information on how to find a niche market, but the process of how they do this is overly complicated and let’s face it, a bit slow.

Instead, I’d like to focus on keeping this process simple by using affiliate marketing strategies, keyword research, and provide you with an in-depth understanding on how to find a niche market that’s right for you.

Affiliate Marketing What? Keyword Research Who?

Unfamiliar with affiliate marketing and keyword research? No worries.

Affiliate marketing is simply marketing other company’s products for a commission instead of importing goods or creating your own products to sell on your website.

Keyword research is what you use to get your website content to rank in order to sell products that are related to your niche market.

Everyone still following me here? If not, let me explain a bit further.

You can sell practically any brand name good, digital product, or educational program through your own website using affiliate marketing programs.

The benefits of using affiliate marketing strategies and keyword research are numerous, but with affiliate marketing, you have very low business start-up costs and ZERO inventory, so essentially very little RISK.

And with keyword research, you can learn how to rank website content fast, and for free, that targets your niche audience using low competition long-tailed keyword phrases.

But before you build a niche website that will make money, you need to learn how to find your niche.

That being said, let’s begin…

How To Find A Niche – Start With Passion, Interests, & Hobbies

When looking to build a niche website for profit, take the dollar signs out of your mind for now. Instead, think of what makes you happy or what you enjoy doing in life.

Do you have hobbies, passions, or interests that are unique to who you are? Maybe you have a special knowledge base or set of skills that other people can benefit from.

Take a second to think about this and jot down some ideas on a piece of paper and then put it aside for now.

If you can’t come up with any ideas, that’s OK, just put this information in the back of your mind and we’ll apply it here in a second using the video below.

The Key Is Helping People..

If you can help people that are interested in the same niche that you enjoy, you can connect with people on a personal level.

This will lead to trust in you, your website, and your content.

In turn, this will result in sales from products that you recommend that are based on helping the needs of your niche audience.

Did I Stress Passion Enough?

Another reason it’s important to be passionate about, or at least enjoy your niche is because your passion will reflect through your website content (written &/or video content).

And this can be a major factor in how successful your niche website will eventually become.

Also, can you imagine writing 50 articles based on your niche? If the answer is no, then you need to keep looking for niche ideas.

If the answer is yes, then perhaps you’ve found your niche.

Let’s watch this video below that’s produced by the Wealthy Affiliate University, they specialize in helping people create niche websites and have produced a great class/video that explains the whole process.

This video will also give you more ideas on how you can come up with your own niche website using retail giants like Amazon.com.

If you wrote down any niche ideas before, take out your list and think about your niche ideas as you watch this video.

As you can see, you can come up with a ton of ideas for niche websites just by looking for hot products using websites like Amazon.com. You can even go to Walmart.com, HomeDepot.com or any other major retail site.

The key is to try to identify products that are hot sellers in today’s market, and that spark your interest as well. You can use this method to come up with a ton of great niche ideas for niche websites.

Quick Niche Website Tips:

1). Stay away from seasonal niches. Things like costumes for Halloween, Christmas decorations, etc.

The reason for this is because you want your niche website to produce you consistent monthly income and not just spike once or twice per year.

2). Make sure your niche idea has sellable products that are related to your niche.

If you have a passion, hobby, or interest that doesn’t have any products associated with it, you’ll have nothing to sell on your website.

Now if your site sees a ton of traffic, you could sell ads, Google AdSense, etc., but you will make more money by selling products that are related to your niche that benefit your niche audience.

3). I know I said it before but I really want to drive home this point.

Before you start any niche website, go into business with the intention of helping people.

Niche websites that solve problems, help someone learn something, and benefit a particular audience will make all the difference in the success you have with a niche website.

What Is The Competition For Your Niche Market

Niche competition is important to understand because you don’t want to choose a niche that is too competitive or too broad, nor do you want to choose a niche that is not popular or is outdated.

You could end up spending a good amount of time, energy, and resources building a niche website that will never rank or generate sales.

At the same time, if you have a passion for something and you understand how to do keyword research for your specific niche, you can get your website content ranked in almost any niche.

Now obviously the more defined and less competitive your niche is, the easier it is to target a specific audience and see quicker results financially, but this shouldn’t discourage you from exploring a niche you love, even if it’s competitive.

Let me show you what I’m talking about.

Let’s Use Home Brewing As Our Niche Example

If I go to Google AdWords to find out how competitive the keyword/niche of Home Brewing is, I find these results below.

Google AdWords Keyword Competition Results for the Keyword Home Brewing

Now 12,100 average monthly searches (world wide) is an awesome amount of monthly searches if we want to develop a niche website that’s based on our love for brewing beer out of our garages.

How doesn’t love Home Brews, right?

But we also see that the Competition for this phrase is High, so we might think to stay away from the Home Brewing niche.

But if I take a good look at this keyword phrase and do a little research on it, I can find that there are many low competition keyword phrases and website names that I can use to break into this niche.

How To Make Money From A Niche Market

Once you have produced quality content that is based on keyword research using long-tail keyword phrases that focuses on building helpful information to your niche audience, you will see your website content start to rank in the search engines.

As you continue to write content based on keyword research about your niche, you will see your posts and website rank grow daily.

As rankings rise, the traffic builds and your start to build a reputation within your chosen niche.

Then you will place affiliate links within your articles that are related to information your niche audience is searching for online.

This strategy will produce excellent results and can be applied to video marketing on YouTube.com as well.

Special Note: In general, you want to internally link your targeted post to a product review. Then on the product review you want to place your affiliate links naturally within your content to take the user to your affiliate product.

This way you won’t come off as a spam website in the eyes of search engines. Google will actually lower your rankings if they see a lot of affiliate links throughout your posts or pages.

Got A Niche, What’s Next?

If you understand SEO, writing content, building out your website, the next step would be to get a keyword research tool so that you can start writing targeted posts to your niche audience based on phrases that your niche audience would be searching on a monthly basis.

Like I said from the start of this article, keep it simple using Jaaxy, you can read all about them right here. Since I’ve been using this tool, I get every post I write to rank well, many in position one on the first page of Google.

If you don’t understand how to build an authoritative niche websites and that’s your ultimate plan, then I would recommend you use the training courses offered by Wealthy Affiliate.
