LearningRx Scientific Advisory Board

Meet the LearningRx Scientific Advisory Board. Members of this board have extensive experience and credentials in the fields of psychology, audiology, education, neuroscience and professional therapies. As advisory board members, these professionals help us stay up-to-date on the latest research, and also consult with LearningRx on current and future independent research. As you know, brain training is a growing field, with new developments making the news almost daily. As a valid way to improve IQ and speed up thinking and learning, personal one-on-one brain training continues to attract the attention of researchers, educators and the media. We are proud to have such credentialed professionals on our team!

Beth Ardell, MPT

Beth has a Master of Physical Therapy Degree and a B.S.Ed. in Exercise Science. As a Physical Therapist, she worked at the VA Medical Center for nearly 10 years until changing her focus to pediatrics in order to help her daughter with dyspraxia and learning differences. She is certified in both Interactive Metronome and Hippotherapy. Beth has completed numerous continuing education courses in the areas of sensory processing disorder and executive dysfunction, and has been a contributor to the Kids Enabled publication. She is also the mother of identical twin sons. Beth co-owns the LearningRx center in Atlanta-Buckhead

Margie S. Bell, EdD

Margie’s education includes an Ed. D. in Educational Leadership, a M. Ed. in Administration and Supervision, and a B.S. in English/Education. In addition to owning three LearningRx centers, she currently works as the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction, Grants, Federal Programs for the Waskom (Texas) Independent School District (ISD). For over 25 years Margie worked as a teacher, then went on to hold positions as principal, Director of Student Services and Guidance, Director of Instruction and Curriculum, and District Testing Coordinator. She was the 1998 Waskom ISD Teacher of the Year, and in 2000 she helped develop the gifted and talented manual used in 96 school districts. She is a member of the Education Department Advisory Board, for Wylie College, the East Texas P-16 Council, and the Texas Association of Supervision and Curriculum Development. She owns a LearningRx in Longview, Texas.

Terri Clark, MEd

Terri has a Master’s in Education specializing in Autism Spectrum Disorder. She is a Florida Certified Teacher in Mathematics, Emotionally Handicapped, Physically Impaired Multiple Handicaps, Elementary Education, and ESOL. Terri is National Board Certified in Middle School Education. She taught in Brevard County schools for 25 years, holding positions in elementary and middle school. Terri served as team leader and department chair, served on the Brevard County Teachers of Mathematics as President, and was Brevard County Teacher of the Year. She was the in-service facilitator to Brevard County and Florida Council for Teachers of Mathematics. Terri sat on the school Advisory Council and Teachers Performance Group. She is a Certified Glasser Teacher and NBCT Mentor. Her community involvement includes work for Junior League of South Brevard, and she is a youth counselor, Cub Scout leader and mission leader. Terri has been the director and owner of LearningRx Melbourne for four years.

Martin Eaton, PhD

A Licensed Clinical Psychologist since 1998, Martin founded Be A Success, Inc. (a company committed to training teachers, students and parents to become self-regulated learners) and Well Street Psychological, Inc. (a psychological and educational business). He served as an Adjunct Associate Professor of educational psychology at the University of Southern California (USC) for 11 years and has written several books, workbooks and pieces for journal publications. Martin has presented at countless national education and learning-related conferences, provided expert witness testimony in numerous educational trials, and developed “Learning How to Learn” – now one of the most popular classes at USC. He is a member of the American Psychological Association, the American Association of Christian Counselors, the American Mental Health Counselors Association, and the National Association of Elementary School principals. He owns two LearningRx centers; in Newport Beach and in Yorba Linda, California.

Ken Gibson, OD

Dr. Ken Gibson holds a Doctor of Optometry degree. In his practice, he specialized in visual processing and pediatric optometry, eventually creating a chain of preschool and learning centers. Having struggled with dyslexia himself, Dr. Gibson became particularly passionate about challenges faced by children with reading and learning disorders. Looking for solutions, he turned to the developing field of brain science, creating ways to apply new scientific findings to improve brain performance and make reading and learning easier. A true pioneer in the applied science of neuroplasticity, his research has spanned more than four decades and culminated in the cognitive skills programs offered by LearningRx today. As of 2012, LearningRx has 83 brain training centers throughout the country and has helped more than 50,000 children and adults.

Jody Jedlicka, AuD

Jody has a Master’s of Science degree and her Doctor of Audiology. She has practiced audiology in a variety of settings, including educational audiology for the Milwaukee Public Schools and several other school districts. Jody has also worked as a clinical supervisor at the University of Wisconsin – Oshkosh Audiology Clinic. Throughout her career, she has been interested in the roles hearing and auditory skills play in learning and reading. She has specialized in diagnosing and treating auditory processing disorders. She became involved with cognitive skills training as a way of treating both auditory processing disorders and many of the accompanying academic difficulties experienced by her patients. She is now the owner and director of LearningRx Appleton, WI. In addition, Jody and her husband have started The Learning Fund, Incorporated, a nonprofit company devoted to raising funds to help families with tuition assistance for cognitive training.

Susanne Buoniconti McDaniel, DPT

Susie received her Doctor of Physical Therapy Degree in 2003 and her Master of Physical Therapy Degree in 1993, both from Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia. She currently holds the position of Corresponding Secretary on the Executive Board of the International Dyslexia Association of Georgia. She is a certified Interactive Metronome provider and has completed numerous continuing education courses focused on learning differences. She is the mother of two boys. She became interested in learning differences when one of her children was receiving treatment for sensory processing disorder and ADHD. Susie co-owns the LearningRx center in Atlanta-Buckhead.

Donesa Walker, MEd

Donesa has B.A. in Elementary Education/Early Childhood Education, a M.Ed. in Educational Administration and a M.Ed. in Reading Specialities. She is the owner/director of two LearningRx centers in Louisiana – Shreveport andBossier City. Her 18 years of teaching experience in a K-12 setting, and 13 years as a reading specialist (specifically dyslexia and other related disorders) have given her a background in countless training and certification programs. Donesa has used, and is familiar with, many additional programs including: CEI/ELS, Scottish Rite, Montessori, Davis Learning Strategies, BrainGym, Irlen Reading by the Colors methods, SoprisWest, Spalding, Lexia-Herman, Project READ, Wilson Reading, Language!, Corrective Reading, EIR, Earobics, Fast Forword, HOTS, Houghton-Mifflin Early Intervention, Lexia Online, My Reading Coach, SRA Open Court, Reading Recovery, Voyager, Alphabetic Phonics, LearningAlly and others. Donesa is currently pursuing her Ed.D in Educational Psychology, specializing in brain-based teaching and training methods.
