2016 3&2 Coaches Clinic Speakers Biographies
3&2's annual Coaches Clinic is scheduled for 8am-Noon on Saturday, February 6 at 68's Inside Sports Indoor Fields Facility located at 9111 Flint. This free clinic is open to coaches and parents who want to learn from some of the best trainers in the area on coaching baseball. We encourage you to come! We have a great line-up of high school and former professional baseball players and executives scheduled to share their knowledge with you and help us all keep the right perspective in coaching young athletes. We look forward to you joining us and we’d like to thank the speakers, the sponsors, and other coaches who will be there to support you as a parent/coach prepare for the 2016 season.
Kevin Seitzer, Hitting Coach Atlanta Braves/Owner MNS Baseball
(Speaking about Perspectives in Coaching Youth Baseball & Hitting Clinic for Youth Players)
2015 season marks Kevin Seitzer's first on the Braves' coaching staff. He previously served as the hitting coach for the Blue Jays, Diamondbacks, and Royals. Under Seitzer's guidance, the 2014 Blue Jays ranked fourth in the American League in runs scored and ranked third in home runs. While with Kansas City, Seitzer helped the 2010 Royals post a .274 team batting average.
Seitzer enjoyed a 12-year Major League career as a third baseman and first baseman with the Royals (1986-91), Milwaukee Brewers (1992, '93-96), Oakland Athletics (1993) and Cleveland Indians (1996-97). He compiled a lifetime batting average of .295, with 285 doubles, 35 triples, 75 home runs and 613 RBI. Seitzer hit .300 or better in seven different seasons.
Seitzer has coached numerous league and tournament teams at 3&2 Baseball and when he’s not actively coaching Major Leaguers, you can find him working with amateur players at the Mac N’ Seitz Baseball Academy in Kansas City.
Jason Day, Shawnee Mission North Baseball

Jason Day grew up here in Kansas City and played baseball at and graduated from Shawnee Mission Northwest. Day played collegiately at Coffeyville, KCK, and Avila and has coached and instructed for 17 years. Day’s first coaching job was in 1999 as a varsity assistant and head JV Coach at O’Hara High School. Day began instructing (Infields/Hitters) that same year at Barnstormers Baseball. Has been an assistant coach at Avila University, Leavenworth HS, Northeast HS, and Ray-Pec HS. Day is currently in his first year as the Head Baseball Coach at Shawnee Mission North.
Tim “TJ” Jarrell, Shawnee Mission South Baseball

Tim “TJ” Jarrell played college baseball at Dodge City Community College for two years (84-85). He played at Emporia State University from (86-87). He holds Emporia State University baseball pitching record for career winning percentage (13-0).
In 2013, TJ was inducted into the Emporia State University Athletic Hall of Fame with his 1987 team. He served as an assistant coach at Emporia State from 1987-1994. TJ has coached at the high school level for over two decades. He has served as a head or assistant high school baseball coach in Tampa, Florida and in Johnson County at SM North, SM East, and currently SM South. TJ also teaches at Indian Hills Middle School. TJ is not only a master of the game, he’s also mastered how to teach the game to the youngest ball players. He also believes in the accessibility of baseball so to make it more affordable for coaches he’s invented dozens of tools and drills with items you probably have laying around your garage right now. As such, TJ has been the Director of 3&2’s summer youth baseball camps since 2003.
Jeff Blaesing, Youth Baseball Coach

Jeff Blaesing grew up outside of Chicago, IL and played for one of the top high school programs in the state—Lockport Township High School. Blaesing was an Illinois All State outfielder and pitcher during that time. After high school, Bleasing pitched at University of Nebraska from 1998-2002 and debuted in the College World Series in 2001 & 2002. Blaesing’s baseball playing career ended in 2002 after undergoing “Tommy John” surgery, but his professional business career kicked off at JE Dunn Construction, where he has worked ever since and is currently serving as a Vice President. Blaesing has coached for five years in the 3&2 Baseball league and played in close to 60 competitive baseball tournaments locally and around the country with his 11U team. Blaesing serves on 3&2 Baseball’s Board of Directors, providing the organization a current viewpoint on youth baseball today and outlook vision for tomorrow for the amateur ball player.
Jerrod Ryherd, Shawnee Mission East Baseball

Jerrod Ryherd played collegiate baseball at Tabor College (1998-2002) where he was an all-conference player and team captain. He entered the record books at Tabor with being top 10 in career hits and runs scored. This year he is beginning his 14th year coaching high school baseball and his 7th as the head coach at SM East. Under his guidance at SME the Lancers have been to the State tournament 3 of the past 5 years and placed 3rd in 2011 and 2015. In 2015 he was named Sunflower League Coach of the Year as he guided SME to Sunflower League Co-Champs for the first time in 29 years. He has a career record of 87-49 and has coached 2 players tabbed as Sunflower League Player of the Year. Just last week in the Pre-Season polls Collegiate Baseball listed SM East as the #14 ranked team in the country.
Coach Ryherd is currently a teacher at SM East and has taught Elementary PE for 13 years. In his free time he thoroughly enjoys coaching his 2 boys youth baseball teams at 3&2 and has coached every age of youth baseball at some point in his life.
Greg Schaum, Director of Scouting & Player Development, Arland Sports Management

Bob Zimmerman, Lead Pitching Instructor Premiere Baseball
(Speaking about—The Scouts’ Perspective on Youth Baseball Development)
Greg Schaum played his high school baseball locally at Shawnee Mission North, graduating in 1990. He continued his career in California, where he lived and started his professional business career. Schaum was the Post-Game Host for the Kansas City Royals from 2006-2010, providing in depth analysis on game plays, situations, and player development. He also worked for the Chiefs Radio Network until 2013. Since 2013, Schaum has been with Arland Sports Management and now is their director of scouting and player development. In that role, Schaum assists in the day to day operations of some of the most talented amateur and professional baseball players in the country.
Bob Zimmerman is the lead pitching instructor at Premiere Baseball in Lenexa. Drafted by the Angels in the fourth round in 2003, after a standout career at Southwest Missouri State (now Missouri State), the St. Louis native advanced to Double-A with the Angels and went on to spend time in the Rockies', Yankees', Dodgers' and Cardinals' organizations.
