National chairman of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), Sen. Ali Modu Sheriff, yesterday said the party will not politicize the return of President Muhammadu Buhari from medical vacation.
Acting national publicity secretary of PDP, Hon Bernard Mikko, said “No patriotic citizen of Nigeria will wish his president otherwise. As a Christian, I was brought up to appreciate humanity and never to wish even my worst enemy any harm. For me, the President’s return is off the realm of politics. We thank God for the safe return of the President in good health.”
On their part, chairman of the national caretaker committee of PDP, Senator Ahmed Makarfi, who also welcomed the president, prayed for his total recovery. They however, said Nigerians deserve to know the health status of their President and how it’s being managed.
A statement by spokesman of the PDP National Caretaker Committee, Prince Dayo Adeyeye, said, “We pray for the President’s complete recovery and advise the Presidency to be more transparent in managing the Health of President Muhammadu Buhari. Nigerians deserves to know the health status of their President and how it’s being managed.
“In the same vein, we thank the Acting President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo for holding forth creditably while the President was away; and urge him to continue to work assiduously to lift the nation out of this debilitating economic recession. To achieve this all hands must be on deck. There is therefore the need to reduce political tension and bring all Nigerians together.
“We call on all Nigerians to continue to pray for President Muhammadu Buhari’s quick recovery; and for wisdom for the Acting President, Prof. Yemi Osinbanjo in the onerous task of steering the ship of state.”
