The Economic and Financial Crimes a Commission (EFCC) has arrested former special adviser to Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso, Alhaji Muktar Umar Yerima.

According to our reliable source at the EFCC, Yerima who is the incumbent chairman of Tarauni Local Government Area of Kano State was picked up early yesterday’s morning over allegation bordering on corruption.

Yerima is alleged to have cornered over N65, 000, 000.00 approved to participants in the Millennium Development Goals empowerment programme and is still at the EFCC net as at press time.

Meanwhile, a Federal High Court sitting in Umuahia, Abia State, has issued a bench warrant for the arrest of Prince Benedict Benjamin Apugo who is facing prosecution by the EFCC in a case involving the fraudulent sale of land belonging to the Nigeria Railway Corporation.

The warrant was issued by Justice F. A. Olubanjo following the failure of the accused to attend his trial after he was granted administrative bail by the EFCC.

Apugo is alleged to have fraudulently sold six plots of land valued at N36, 000, 000. 00 belonging to the Nigeria Railway Cooperation, to the petitioner.

In the course of investigation, the accused was invited and made statement under caution.
