Question by v: Have a comcast cable modem and want to have VOIP?
I know I can use headset (mic.+speaker) but I want to have better quality and I want to avoid paying monthly rent to comcast for its Motorola cable modem, am also using trendnet wireless router and I want to know if is there any device which can serve all my purpose for example 1.cable modem 2.wireless modem 3.voip?

For VOIP to work, there has to be a supplier that converts it to the phone. There are several, Skype is “free” and you get what you pay for
http://www.skype.com/ there are several “free” suppliers.
The next step up would be something like Magic Jack, http://www.magicjack.com/1/index.asp which is a carrier and has ok service (all depends on your connection) 19/yr isn’t too bad for phone line.
Then there are services like Vonage who offer good support and have good service. They are more expensive.
You can even subscribe to Comcasts VOIP service as well.
As far as the modem and router… you can BUY a cable modem, keep your trendnet or upgrade to a VOIP router from Linksys, Dlink, Netgear etc. BUT I would decide on the VOIP supplier first, then get what you need to work with that supplier!
