Music isn’t merely a recreational activity–it’s the very soundtrack that pulses the heartbeat of our lives.

An artist like Lili Haydn is aware of the relationships among the sacred acts of playing, listening, participating in the process of creation.

In this month’s issue of LA YOGA, writer (and musician and yoga teacher) Joe Kara interviewed Lili about her practice and her performance, in anticipation of her taking the stage Sunday night at the Moksha Festival, held this year in Topanga.

Also at the Moksha Festival, someone in the yoga community will be awarded for their activism (be there on Sunday for the ceremony).

We have some free tickets available to hang out Friday night to participate in chanting, dancing, and singing with the lineup of musicians: Daniel Stewart, Tina Malia, Donna De Lory, and Cheb i Sabbah. Email LA YOGA and tell us why you’d like to win and we’ll connect you with a pair of tickets.

A few workshop and full festival tickets are still available allowing you to take classes with renowned teachers and Ayurvedic practitioners (including Vaidya Mishra, Dr. Siva Mohan and others)–but sign up now!

Music tickets to hear more notable artists, such as Wah! Jai Uttal, Gina Sala, Kranamrita Dasi, Sheela Bringi, the Kirtaniyas, Kirtan Rabbi, Snatam Kaur, and of course, Lili Haydn.

This weekend, further south, Lightning in a Bottle will be lighting up the days and nights with their blend of art, yoga, music, and environmental consciousness.

Wherever you choose to spend your weekend, allow it to be lit up, conscious, and filled with some danceable grooves.

May there be a song in your heart,

Felicia Marie Tomasko, RN
LA Yoga Magazine, Editor in Chief
