US law firm FisherBroyles bills itself as the “Next Generation law firm”, using technology to leverage its services. It has just announced the largest lateral move of lawyers from a traditional firm to a cloud-based one.
The Florida-based firm announced this week that eight attorneys from law firm Roetzel & Andress LPA have joined the largest cloud-based firm in the United States in a further sign of how technology is changing the way law is practised and law services are delivered.
“We put the traditional law firm structure in a clean room, dismantled it, threw away some pieces, then retooled and restructured the rest. This new Law Firm 2.0® model discards costly inefficiencies such as expensive overhead, inexperienced attorneys and the multi-layered approach to delivery of services.” the firm’s co-founder James Fisher told a US news magazine.

We are now 70+ attorneys strong and our stable of partner-level attorneys from big firms and corporations charge about half of what their counterparts charge at the large law firms, the magazine reported.
FisherBroyles, which has a practice in white collar litigation, health law and compliance, as well as real estate and commercial litigation, says the move is focusing the firm’s attention upon leveraging advanced technology to transform law practice that is also capable of attracting top legal talent.
