December is one of those rare months where you can get away with your comfiest oversize sweaters and your favorite sparkly party attire in the same day. And, whether you’re out finishing your holiday shopping or heading to an office party, winter offers countless opportunities to wear your favorite (glittery) pieces.

To help you feel inspired by your winter wardrobe, today I am sharing 10 of my favorite December style ideas that I plan on trying this month…and encourage you to do the same!

1. Brighten up.
The drop in temperature doesn’t have to mean storing away your favorite spring colors. Even on the coldest days, that winter sun might be shining bright enough for you to pull out your favorite sunnies (especially here in California). Grab a pink peacoat, winter sunnies and a bestie and head out for some holiday shopping.

2. Twinkle toes.
Step out during the day sporting your favorite holiday heels paired with cozy cold-weather staples. A little sparkle will brighten up even the dreariest day. Plus, a warm drink in hand makes the perfect accessory.

3. All that glitters is gold.
Sequins don’t have to be reserved for holiday parties alone – why not glam up your daytime outfit with a gold statement piece? I love how this gold sequined blazer could be worn with distressed denim and a knit scarf during the day, and a LBD for a holiday party at night.

4. Frosty blue hues.
It’s no secret that I love a perfectly executed monochromatic look (I talked about going monochrome in this style post and this post too). Go for an all-over color scheme to add a festive vibe to the season’s iciest color, pale blue.

5. Sport a holiday headdress.
During the holidays, I like to sport accessories that add little sparkle, like a delicate headpiece or gold jewelry. The gilded leaf piece pictured below gives a black outfit a little something extra—not to mention it’s a perfect match for a holiday red lip.

6. Go for girly party attire.
Tutus and bows are perfectly acceptable staples this time of year. Don’t wait until New Year’s Eve to pull out your best dresses and party pumps—there are 12 days of Christmas, after all.

7. Feel warm and fuzzy.
A fuzzy, oversized coat is one of my favorite trends this season. The texture is fun and cozy, plus it pairs perfectly with an ombre bob like the one in this photo.

8. Pretty in pale pink.
You have every reason to keep styling your pink pieces this winter—I know I will be. Wear a pink ribbed turtleneck with a white button down and black pants. Chic sunnies add extra edge.

9. Pair a festive dress with a puffer coat.
You may have picked out your holiday dress already, but in the interest of practicality, you’ll probably want to add a few extra layers before hitting the town on a cold night. Wear a puffer coat over your favorite party dress and you’ll be toasty and chic.

10. Style a cape coat.
If you tire quickly of uncomfortable coats and heavy jackets, a cape may be the perfect solution for you. This silhouette puts a fresh twist on a traditional peacoat. I love it in camel, especially when paired with a colorful brooch and leather leggings.
