Actor Harrison Ford, 74, may want to consider turning in his pilot’s license and stick to driving ground vehicles.
In 2015, Ford suffered a serious crash that nearly killed him, and on Monday, he nearly struck a Boeing 737 that was loaded with 110 passengers.
As Ford came in for a landing on runway 20-L at John Wayne Airport, he nearly hit the American Airlines plane.
“Was that airliner meant to be underneath me?” he asked Air Control.
Despite Ford repeating his landing instructions back to Air Control, he managed to land his plane on the taxiway.
The Federal Aviation Administration is now investigating Ford and his punishment could range from a simple warning letter to the loss of his license.
While the 2015 crash wasn’t Ford’s fault, seeing as his plane suffered from engine failure, Monday’s terrifying landing was completely his fault.
“Harrison’s been a great pilot. You can see by the fact that he survived this forced landing that he is a skilled aviator,” said Paul Mitton, who produced a documentary about Ford’s love of flying, to CNN.
Aviation expert Rick Dake said the same thing, saying he handled himself really well in the 2015 crash.
“Everything he did was perfect,” said Dake. “That alone is testament to the great ability Harrison Ford had. He made a 180-degree turn with the engine seizing up on him. He almost made it to the runway.”
“He was able to keep that plane away from the houses and land it with the least impact on the community. That was the best place he could have landed it. He was 100 per cent doing exactly what an excellent aviator would do,” he added.
