The White House website updated itself with the rest of the administration on Friday, and along with scrubbing references to climate change, they also seemed to be promoting Melania Trump’s jewelry brands sold on QVC and her modeling curriculum vitae.

The site has since been updated to say that Mrs. Trump is “also a successful entrepreneur” when she “launched her old jewelry collection,” according to the White House page. Yet, the first draft of the page listed all the different brands.

From The Washington Post:

Early in the day on Friday the website listed the brand names of Trump’s jewelry lines sold on QVC. However the website was updated after the publication of this story to remove any mention of QVC.

The original passage read: “Melania is also a successful entrepreneur. In April 2010, Melania Trump launched her own jewelry collection, ‘Melania™ Timepieces & Jewelry,’ on QVC,” the site read.

Earlier in the biography it lists all of the magazine covers on which Mrs. Trump appeared during her career as a model such as Sports Illustrated’s infamous “Swimsuit Issue.”

From the White House site:

As a model, Melania has appeared in high profile ad campaigns and worked with some of the top photographers in the fashion industry, including Patrick Demarchelier, Helmut Newton, Arthur Elgort, Ellen Von Unwerth, Peter Arnell, Antoine Verglas and Mario Testino. She has graced the covers of Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, British GQ, Ocean Drive, Avenue, In Style, and New York Magazine. Her major layouts include the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, Allure, Vogue, Self, Glamour, Vanity Fair, and Elle. In addition, Melania has appeared in numerous television commercials and television programs, including co-hosting The View with Barbara Walters.

The biography also notes that Melania Trump is only the second First Lady of the United States to have been born in another country. The only other foreign-born FLOTUS was Louisa Adams, wife of John Quincy Adams, sixth president of the United States.

Melania hasn’t said much about her plans as First Lady, other than to be a mother to her son. She has caused some controversy by saying that she and Barron Trump will remain in New York while he finishes the school year. Some, including writers on Latest.com, are saying that Mrs. Trump is redefining the position of First Lady in a way that moves it beyond antiquated ideas of gender roles.

Still the promotion of her jewelry line, complete with brand names, raises conflict of interest questions and there are already more of those than any new administration would want to handle. Also, a spokesperson for QVC told The Post that the network no longer sells Melania Trump’s jewelry.
