Well, I know that yesterday I said I was going to try to do 2 posts in one day....well, obviously that didn't happen, lol. Here I am now...showing you an idea I thought up in my head a few months ago. If you are like many of us women, pinterest has become our new idea forum. I, for one, LOVE it!!! It has given me so many ideas for crafts, organizing, house decor, and more! Love love LOVE it! Anyways, back to my post, I had been seeing many ideas for wreaths for your front door. There were so many cute ones, and I wanted to do them all, unfortunately my checking account and my husband I am sure would not be happy with the cost of making all those wreaths.
So, I came up with this idea...and interchangeable wreath. I wanted to be able to have a different wreath for each month, without having to buy a different wreath each month, or make one, or have to find a place to store all those wreaths. I wanted ONE wreath to last me through the whole year. I came up with this....
I know, I know, it doesn't look like much does it.....how about this...this ONE wreath makes all TWELVE of these:
January (New Years Baby w/ Party Balloons)

May (Mother's Day w/ Flowers)
June (Father's Day w/ Golf....My husband likes golf :p)

Like them? I really do! They turned out so much better than I could have imagined! So, you want to make them yourself? It's really easy...and somewhat inexpensive.
First you will need:
(1) Wire Wreath....I'm sure you can use any wreath you like, but I liked this one cause it was only like $3.00 at Michael's and it's somewhat flat.
4-5 Packages of no-sew velcro. It doesn't have to be black, it's just all Wal*Mart had left when I was buying.
3-4 Spools of 5/8" thick ribbon....I know my picture only shows 2 spools, but I didn't know I would need 4 when I was purchasing everything for this.
Then you will need scissors, a hot glue gun, white & colored cardstock, and the templates/coloring pages that you will find later in this post.
Step 1: Glue the end of the ribbon to the outside of your wreath like so...
Step 2: Wrap the ribbon around the wreath and glue it to the strip that you are overlapping like so...
(Wow, I hope these pictures make up for my lack of explaining skills...sorry.)
Step 3: Keep wrapping and glueing until you have completed a section of the wreath...
Step 4: Repeat steps 1 thru 3 (make you fall in love with me...name that song lol) until you have wrapped and glued the entire wreath.
Step 4: Open your velcro and seperate the 2 halves...so you'll have a "soft" half and a "rough" half. Set aside the "rough" half of the velcro, you will be using that later...Measure out the "soft" velcro for each section...
Step 5: Cut that strip of velcro in half. This is more so that the velcro "contours" to the shape of the wreath.
Step 6: Glue the strips of velcro to the entire wreath...
Step 7: Print, Color, Cut, Laminate, and Cut again all of the templates below.
Lamination is crucial because if you are hanging your wreath outdoors, you don't want it getting ruined by the rain.
Also, you will be printing the coloring pages onto the white cardstock, and the "shapes" onto colored cardstock of your choice. You also don't have to do my coloring pages or templates that I found, I just browsed google images until I found things that I liked or fit our family.
Step 8: Cut the "rough" half of the velro into 1/4"-1/2" squares/strips.
Step 9: Glue each square to the back of each of your laminated coloring pages and shapes. 2 squares for the coloring pages, 1 square for the shapes.
Step 10: Apply the coloring pages and shapes to the wreath based on the month and theme and hang it on your door....and enjoy!!!
Here are the coloring pages and shapes that I found, like I said earlier, you don't have to use the ones I did, you can easily find more options by googling "_________coloring pages" and fill in the blank with whatever holiday or shape it is you are looking for. Oh and when printing out the shapes I have for you, copy and paste the shapes into your word program, and size them down so you can put around 6-8 of each shape on a page.
