In the Largehearted Word series, the staff of Brooklyn's WORD bookstore highlights several new books released this week.

WORD Bookstores are independent neighborhood bookstores in Greenpoint, Brooklyn and Jersey City, New Jersey. Our primary goal is to be whatever our communities needs us to be, which currently means carrying everything from fiction to nonfiction to absurdly cute cards and stationery. In addition, we're fiends for a good event, from the classic author reading and Q&A to potlucks and a basketball league (and anything set in a bar). If a weekly dose of WORD here isn't enough for you, follow us on Twitter: @wordbookstores.

I Dreamed I Was a Very Clean Tramp

by Richard Hell

Now out in paperback, Richard Hell's autobiography chronicles his penniless arrival in New York City, eventual rise to punk icon, and everything in between. Hell has honed a distinct, vivid voice that jumps off the page.

The Stud Book

by Monica Drake

We loved, loved, loved Clown Girl, and Monica Drake continues to receive our praise with her novel The Stud Book.

Make Map Art: Creatively Illustrate Your World

by Nate Padavick and Salli Swindell

Padavick and Swindell (who also happen to be brother and sister) teamed up to put together this guide to turning your travels into art. Inside are templates for wall art, sample projects to spark ideas of your own, and a fold out map of the world. Chart it all: where you've been, where you are, and where you are going.
