Eric Wright’s 2013 Peterbilt 389 may be the finest example of making a brand new truck look like a fully restored 359. To achieve the look Eric was after he started with a 2013 389 rolling glider with a 290” wheelbase ordered through Clint Moore at Kansas City Peterbilt. To provide some motivation Eric picked up a 550 Cat from 4 State Trucks that was then installed back at Kansas City Peterbilt. As you can see in the interior pictures there are 2 sticks in there, this isn’t the typical second stick is a splitter set up (not that there’s anything wrong with that) no, Eric’s 389 has a genuine set of Spicer Transmissions in it! Next it was off to Joplin Pete to have a right hand door installed in the sleeper to continue the 359 theme. Next Eric installed 6” pipes, half fenders, and a custom light bar. Bob Bond then laid the amazing pin striping. Finally Eric had Martinez Upholstery in Kansas City Missouri handle the custom trim in the interior. The trailer is a 2005 Utility 48’ reefer with an eleven foot spread and a 2000 Thermo King unit. Eric painted the entire trailer himself and Bob Bond then went to work with another amazing round on pin striping. Eric hails from Tonganoxie Kansas and hauls produce between Kansas City and California. Eric would like to thank Jim Crane at Anchor for all his help putting this incredible 389 together.

Eric recently sold this work of art but has a few more tricks up his sleeve so keep an eye on the pages of an upcoming issue of LCM to see what he’s doing next, I guarantee it will be large!
