Luis Suarez is in line to make his return from suspension at Old Trafford after Liverpool were drawn away to Manchester United in the third round of the Capital One Cup.
The match, due to be played the week of September 23, marks the first time Suarez will be available for Liverpool since biting the arm of Chelsea's Branislav Ivanovic.
It will be the third time the two sides have met in this competition, the first since United's 3-1 win at Old Trafford in October 1990.
Brendan Rodgers would have been hoping for a kinder draw after Liverpool required extra time to overcome League One strugglers Notts County on Tuesday.
Manchester City will host Wigan in a rematch of last season's FA Cup final, with a significantly weakened Latics side expected to offer little resistance for Manuel Pellegrini's men.
Chelsea travel to League One Swindon Town, who eliminated QPR with a 2-0 win on Tuesday, in their opening fixture of the Capital One Cup this season.
Arsenal also have a tricky all-Premier League clash with West Bromwich Albion, while Tottenham have been drawn a trip to Aston Villa.
West Ham are set to play Cardiff, while Fulham will meet either Everton or Stevenage.
All matches will be played on September 24/25.
