We had to get a second batch this week which is clearly nothing like the quality of the first.

If you were to have asked a landscaper or garden designer ten years ago which turf they'd consider the finest quality on the market I'd hazard a guess that for than 75% of them would have said Rolawn.

However, judging by the comments from professionals on the Landscape Juice Network, this doesn't now appear to be the case.

Garden designer Jill Crooks received two batches of Rowlawn Medallion turf recently and says that the quality of the second batch was nothing like that of the first.

Jill asked: "Has anyone experienced a drop in quality with Rolawn Medallion turf recently? Just wondering if the wet weather in Yorkshire is causing problems.

"We had to get a second batch this week which is clearly nothing like the quality of the first. The local distributors are saying all batches are coming in like that.

"Any similar experiences?"

Landscaper Sam Whitworth responded: "Yes definitely the standard seems to have dropped." and continued, "The extra cost of Rolawn turf should mean these problems do not occur."

Aye Gardening Ltd say they have switched supplier: "We have noticed a significant drop in quality - so much so that we have changed supplier.

"Rolawn's turf is being cut thinner, has plastic mesh in to keep it together and doesn't look thick and lush anymore."

Landscaper Ian Wright also had a bad experience, saying: "I no longer use Rolawn after I had a bad experience with "sod death" which occurs when the turf gets overheated in the lorries.

"It looks fine when laying but soon dies. Rolawn refused to accept any responsibility but the supplier told me it had happened before and Rolawn always deny responsibility"

Rolawn were asked for a response last week but have so far not commented.
