A conference-by-conference look at the many uniform changes prior to the college football season.

With less than a week until the official start of the college football season, we've compiled a conference-by-conference list of the uniform changes for 2014.

We'll continue to update this list until kickoff, at which point we'll bring you weekly recaps and weekend previews throughout the season. While we hope we've listed them all, there are 128 (and counting) programs at the FBS level. If any uniform news has slipped through the cracks, let us know in the comments below.

The American

Cincinnati

The Bearcats have changed the color of the numbers on their black home and red alternate jerseys. Last season, the numbers were silver with white trim, but they'll be solid white in 2014.

East Carolina

In addition to unveiling a streamlined logo as part of a school-wide rebrand, the Pirates revealed new uniforms earlier this month. The team upgraded from the first Pro Combat uniform template to the Speed Machine template, which includes a Flywire collar.

Houston

Less is more, when it comes to the Cougars, as the team wore uniforms with an obnoxious shoulder yoke one season ago. Revealing relatively plain uniforms earlier this summer, Houston will actually look decent when the team opens its brand new stadium later this month.

South Florida

One of many teams to join the chrome craze, the Bulls revealed a chrome gold helmet and a matte green helmet with an oversized chrome decal and facemask. It's unclear, however, whether these have become the primary look or if they'll be added to the other helmets in the team's repertoire.

Southern Methodist

After wearing 1980s Pony Express throwback uniforms against Rutgers, the Mustangs received requests to wear them more often. In response, athletic director Rick Hart said they're working with Nike to make it the team's standard look, as well as create red and white versions.

Temple

One season ago, the Owls seemingly wore different helmet decals every week, including one of the Liberty Bell. The team also unveiled helmets with owl feathers against Notre Dame. It looks like Temple hasn't run out of ideas, either, as the equipment staff wants us to stay tuned.

I told you all to stay tuned................ Its coming.......

Tulane

The Green Wave have one of the most underrated color combinations in sports, but their new uniforms that minimize the use of light blue leaves something to be desired. The helmet, however, is gorgeous.

ACC

Clemson

Similar to Michigan, Clemson may be honoring legends of the program with a special patch this season. Freshman quarterback Deshaun Watson was seen wearing a patch to honor two-time ACC Player of the Year Steve Fuller at Clemson's fan day.

Duke

To commemorate the program's 1989 ACC Championship, the Blue Devils unveiled uniforms that resemble those from the Steve Spurrier-led squad. My only gripe is the inconsistency in the numbers from uniform to uniform.

Florida State

Similar to the NFL's Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Seminoles ditched one of the best uniforms in the sports for a Nike-fied shell of itself. The fade-to-black helmet is pretty cool and the pattern on the sleeves/collar is a nice tribute to the Seminole tribe, but a simple update to the latest Nike template would have sufficed.

Louisville

Although former head coach Charlie Strong said that the black uniforms were only prototypes to show recruits, new head coach Bobby Petrino wasted little time in announcing they'll be worn in the season opener against Miami.

Miami (FL)

Hoping to renew its lost swagger, Miami unveiled four new uniforms this offseason: Juice, Surge, Stormtrooper, and Smoke. With the custom font and school mascot on the sleeves, hip, and alternate helmets, the Hurricanes haven't looked this good since they were crowned national champions.

North Carolina State

NC State's "Pack in Black" alternate helmet, featuring a carbon fiber fade-to-red design with wolf eyes, will likely be paired with a yet-to-be-unveiled black jersey.

Syracuse

The Orange unveiled uniforms that pay tribute to the eleven players in school history that have worn the No. 44. However, the custom font, designed to mimic the height of the buildings in New York City, and striping make this one of the worst rebrands in recent memory.

The new Syracuse uniforms are here. They're, uh ... they're definitely uniforms! http://t.co/CdfmEJ1LzZ pic.twitter.com/fEleOVT8sK

Big Ten

Illinois

Needing new uniforms in the worst way, the Illini revamped the entire athletic department in April. The Block "I" has become the school's primary identification mark and will be featured prominently on new matte helmets. The jerseys are the best part, though, with sublimated stripes as a nod to football legend Red Grange.

Maryland

Under Armour constantly tinkers with Maryland's uniforms, but may have something with the Pride 2.0 uniforms. The Terps wore the red version of these uniforms twice last season, but will debut black and white versions this year.

Michigan

When Michigan plays host to Penn State in the third installment of the Under the Lights game, the Wolverines will be outfitted in alternate uniforms yet again. The monochrome blue set will be the team's sixth alternate uniform since 2011.

Michigan State

The reigning Big Ten champions have removed the green shoulder yoke from its standard road uniform. Just like the team did with the matching home set a few season ago, the yoke versions are now alternate options.

Nebraska

Nebraska, like Michigan, fell victim to Adidas' monochrome outfits with this alternate uniform they'll debut against Illinois. While the all-red getup is quite the sight, so is head coach Bo Pelini in the extra stretchy fabric. Neither in a good way.

Ohio State

One of Nike's premier programs, Ohio State will be outfitted in Nike's latest Pro Combat Mach Speed template. Additionally, while it has not been confirmed by the program, the team will keep its Rivalry uniforms in rotation moving forward.

Oklahoma

The Sooners unveiled an additional uniform set this offseason that will complement the team's standard uniforms. Very similar to Ohio State's Rivalry uniforms, they'll be worn in select games throughout the season.

The Horned Frogs have also jumped on the chrome bandwagon, raising their total helmet options to 11. Might as well add another and wear a different helmet for every game on the schedule.

Texas Tech

Head coach Kliff Kingsbury described the throwback uniforms the Red Raiders will wear against Arkansas as "Zach Thomas era" jerseys. While noting that these specific uniforms will be black, Kingsbury also stated the team may wear red uniforms a few times this season.

Marshall

The Thundering Herd revealed new kelly green uniforms, but it's unclear whether they'll be legal this season. The equipment managers have repeatedly said they're within the rules, but I guess we'll find out how true that is if they're deducted a timeout each half.

Navy

The Midshipmen switched from Nike to Under Armour this offseason, prompting many fans to wonder if the helmet worn with the team's Pro Combat set can still be worn. Since the helmet was made by HGI, not Nike, it will remain in Navy's repertoire moving forward. The best part of Navy's new duds are the six stripes, representing the six US naval fleets.

Notre Dame

Notre Dame became Under Armour's flagship program when the Fighting Irish reached a record-setting deal in January. The team has not released images of their new uniforms, but I wouldn't expect much of a change after seeing the following jerseys for sale.

Although their previous set was among my favorite in the conference, the Rockets were slowly returning to a more traditional look last season.
