Lake Nona will become the second North American “Smart City” with the launch of the Jiyo wellbeing focused application, announced at this year’s Lake Nona Impact Forum. Founded by integrative medicine pioneer Dr. Deepak Chopra, the health technology application is a comprehensive digital wellness platform designed to improve health and wellbeing.
Jiyo will provide Lake Nona residents with exclusive access to customized content centered on the five pillars of wellbeing: personal growth, exercise, nutrition, sleep and relationships. Combined with analytics tools and a range of information, articles and videos from leading experts, like Dr. Chopra, the app seeks to help individuals be their best selves through a total mind-body integration platform.
“Lake Nona has offered us the unique opportunity to create the internet of wellbeing, the global brain for creating a more peaceful, sustainable, healthier and more joyful world,” Dr. Chopra said.
Based on an integrative health model that holistically examines all aspects of physical and emotional health, the Jiyo app tracks users’ behavior and offers insights and suggestions based on daily habits to make genuine and impactful life changes. Linking exercise, meditation, diet, finances, relationships and purpose, Jiyo takes a unique 360-degree look at users lives, creating an awareness that individual choices and actions have a collective, cumulative effect on health and well-being.
Users can engage and connect locally with sharable “Moments,” challenge a friend through shared tasks, and even earn badges. The app integrates with wearable technologies to keep your data up-to-date and will send you helpful reminders based on your recent activity or health recipes close to mealtimes.
Lake Nona will be the second Jiyo Smart City in the United States, joining Aspen, Colorado, which launched the application in November 2016. The partnership developed naturally as Dr. Chopra has participated in consecutive Lake Nona Impact Forums, building a relationship with the “living lab” known for innovation and a commitment to community health.
The Lake Nona version of Jiyo will officially launch later this year with a special kickoff event for residents to learn more, gain access and engage with the app. That will be just the beginning of special Jiyo-focused evens throughout Lake Nona combining activities and experts from the Jiyo network to help residents more consciously become their better selves.
