A few weeks ago we posed a question: what if we held a storytelling event? Would you want to attend? Where should we hold it? How would you get there? When would you want it? The results suggested you guys wanted a Los Feliz venue where you can drink and hear speakers, preferable held at a place that you could walk or drive to. We studied lots of neighborhoods and venues and got lots of great offers. That said, we’ve figured out what’s best for everyone and now have an exciting announcement: September 26 at Bar Covell‘s Sidebar, we will be holding our *first* storytelling night. It’s called L.A.S.—Los Angeles Stories—and we are super duper excited about it. We hope to see you there!

The event will feature a handful of storytellers ranging from performers to contributors to writers and more telling stories about Los Angeles based on a specific theme. The theme for this first, September L.A.S. is NEW. This relates to a first or a new situation or even anything that sounds like the word “new” brought back to a Los Angeles experience. These experiences can be super specific or completely universal: we’re hoping that they represent the wide range of stories present in this city. Be on the lookout for a list of storytellers as that will be coming soon. (In the future we’d like to get readers telling stories too so, if interested, email kyle@laimyours.com and we’ll reach out for next time.)

A few things to note. First, to RSVP for the event you’ll have to sign up using Eventbrite. The Sidebar space only holds fifty people-ish so you must, must, must RSVP. We’ll have a waiting list too, in case someone cancels. The event is totally free but buying a drink or two or three while there to support Covell is required. Be sure to check back here frequently (and on the Eventbrite listing) as we’ll be sharing updates. This is going to be a fun time that you will not want to miss. And, if you can’t make it, we’ll be holding this monthly, the next likely being on October 24.
