This morning, Donald Trump signed an executive order clearing the way for the Dakota Access Pipeline (DAPL) and the Keystone XL oil pipelines to move forward.
In North Dakota, the DAPL has been opposed vehemently by the Standing Rock Sioux tribe and other Native American groups, as construction will run under Lake Oahe, which the tribes depend on for water reserves. The Obama Administration stopped the project in December, but Trump’s action will start the project back up.
The Keystone XL project was halted by President Obama, as it poses a major threat to the climate. According to the NY Time: the project would carry tar sands crude oil which is difficult to extract and therefore has a detrimental effect to the environment, causing intensive greenhouse gas emissions.
Today we are asking you to donate to the organizations that will attempt to stop these projects via legal action and inform yourselves about the fight ahead. Because Trump signed an executive order, he has bypassed Congress, therefore it is up to the Courts to stop these dangerous actions.

- The American Civil Liberty Union will be dedicating resources to fight the Trump Administration in Court. We strongly urge you to donate even a small amount to the ACLU, or become an annual member by donating $50. - Sign up to receive updates from NextGen, an initiative set up to stop climate change.
