You all know that I'm a drugstore makeup girl. No muss, no fuss. I usually like to stick to my eyeliner, mascara, light foundation, lip balm ritual and only deviate when I get it in my head that "maybe this time I'll be good at the smoky eye!" By the way, I'm never good at the smoky eye. What's the trick people? Spongues? Q-Tips? Help me!

I have learned, in all my makeup ineptitude, that the one trick that adds some instant glamour and isn't difficult is the cat eye or winged eyeliner. Want to feel sexy instantly? Wing that black eyeliner ladies! Today, with some Rimmel Scandaleyes mascara, Stay Matte foundation, and their bronzer and eyeshadow palette (all from Walmart), I'm going to show you via GIFs and gratuitous photos of myself how to achieve a new makeup look. As Rimmel is celebrating their 180th anniversary (what?!) this month, I've this is a totally retro (yet glam and wearable) look! This is appropriate for lazy weekends at home when you have nothing else to do, or anytime you're going out to a nice, lowlit dinner date. At the end of my post, there's also an awesome Rimmel sweepstakes for you to enter to win some great $50 baskets worth of makeup goodies.

You can find each of the Rimmel products that I used at Walmart and there is an awesome $1 coupon off Rimmel in your Sunday newspaper inserts. Keep an eye out. I was wowed by the effect of the mascara (it added some serious oomph) and the foundation offered insanely good coverage without feeling heavy.

1. Moisturizer is the key to getting your foundation to apply nicely. It also helps you correct smudges with your eyeliner easily. Apply a thin coat to your clean face before starting.

2. I always apply my eyeliner first as it is the most smudgy and I want to be able to use coverup/foundation to correct my errors. To achieve a cat-eye or winged liner, I draw a line across my top lip (pull your eyelid out to get the lash line covered) slanting up at the end about a 1/4" toward the end of my brow. Then draw another line coming out of the center of your eye and across your lid to meet the winged liner. Try to keep your pencil or liquid lines straight, making an acute angle. Fill in the triangle gently.

3. Next step, mascara! I apply three coats (letting each dry slightly before applying the next) to achieve a really punchy look and big lashes.

4. Apply your Stay Matte foundation to the face. I usually target the chin, under my eyes, my T-zone, and down the center of my nose. This helps me create contours, shapes and shadows. For extra contouring, apply bronzer in a C shape starting from your brow and curving underneath the cheek bone. Then add in some blush on the cheekbone above the bronzer to top it off!

5. Top the entire look off with a bright red lip! Voila! You're done.
